Trick for rear tower bar
1 Attachment(s)
Since I have to remove and replace my rear tower bar to get my track wheels in my car, I came up with these to make the process just a little quicker.
I could only find 1/4 " ones that were long enough (3 1/4") so I sleeved them with some tubing. They' ll get tested next weekend. |
This actually reminds me of people with WRX wagons back in the day with rear strut bars and the same issue. They did a similar thing, but the bolt they used there had that lever locking thing on it. No idea who made it and this was probably from over 10 years ago now.

That doesn't look like a sound way to secure the bar (as opposed to a bolt). Does it still function well? Does it wiggle at all when moved by hand?
A rough guess at how much the strut towers might deflect is GrimmSpeed's front bar page which shows a displacement graph, up to 15 thousands of an inch and often less. |
