I liked their approach with this video and in my limited exposure to all 3 cars, agree with their opinions.

I call 100% BS. When using ft•lbs and hp units and starting axes at 0, power and torque curves always crossover exactly at and only at 5252.

The graph in the GR86 uses a different scale, and has a clearly marked 100 Nm at the bottom of the y axis; the BRZ most likely has 0 at the bottom. That explains why the GR86 curve looks like a vertically stretched version of the BRZ curve. The WOT torque at each rpm is most likely identical between the 2022s, the only difference being the throttle pedal response tuning.

They were saying they can feel the difference between (peak) torque curves.

Data log or it didn't happen.
In this case, a GPS log of a WOT 3rd gear pull from ~30 mph to redline is all that's needed. Not that hard to do, I even did it in a U-Haul van once for fun.

Just be a case of they happened to luck out on a car that happened to perform better than the rest of the batch?

because out of how many thousands of cars out there, there could be several cases that perform better for no reason at all.

Like for example they could have gotten the so-called Japanese tune where the car is rated at 232hp instead of the N/A tune rated at 228?
Or they had their GR86 for awhile and the BRZ was more broken in or was a brand new loaner press car or something that just so happens to be performing at peak peak.....

At least the throttle mapping does have a discernable difference (unless its their confirmation bias since they bought a gr86) and not Morizo marketing.

They also mentioned BRZ has a slightly better road feel (vibrations maybe?) i assume from the alu knuckles? Thats the only push i need to buy them knucles to replace my anvils on my GR86. Woohoo!

I'd expect the spring rates and damper tuning to have more effect on the overall NVH than just the knuckles.

I am usually a fan of these guys but they kept talking about power delivery differences without any data to back it up outside of the stupid graph.

Same as before, Scion/86 more twitchy than the BRZ. And only 23 more horsepower, Weak. Still, these models and a boost package, those extra cc's come in handy for sure.

Also, wonder how much the ECU tuning is controlling the torque dip, is that entirely addressable at the tune level to make them all linear and upward like normal torque/hp profiles.

I do like the reports of a stiffer chassis too.

Aluminum is usually worse when it comes to transmitting vibration.

Yep, it's stiffer than steel for compression modulus. Likely explains the steering feel difference.

I like the lighter aspect of the knuckle, but still lean to the twitchy/sporty. Saw another video where a guy just showed the suspension differences by pulling the wheels. Knuckles in front, rear sway mounting in back are two major design differences. And quite a different spec on the sway bars too. One hollow, other solid in same location. Different diameters. Minor, but not the same. Not much talk on the springs and dampers, but different spec for sure on both.

He said the BRZ was more comfy tame driving than the GR. But when pushed, both so similar he liked the BRZ because of it's softer ride.
