Where can I find a new/used axle?

Hello,

About a couple of months ago I ran off the road avoiding deer and damaged the car. The damage is pretty much undercarriage, some covers, exhaust, and a single axle. The car is currently perfectly driveable and just has a busted axle. (I drove it to the shop)

The car has been at the shop since this happened and I have been unable to drive it. They're waiting on some back-ordered parts.

Unfortunately, my rental with insurance is running out and I need to be able to drive the car for work. The only immediately important part that the shop is waiting on to make the car at least driveable is a rear axle.

I've called around to dealerships and it is indeed back-ordered, the same as what the shop told me. Part number: 28421CC000

If I can just locate this part, I can continue driving my car while waiting for everything else to arrive.

Does anyone have a good source on where I can find this axle, either new or used, or even an axle meant for a different Subaru that fits?

Thank you.

Enquire at any larger local wrecking yard. Most are on a linked computer inventory system and if there is a used one available they can get it for you.

Well now that is handy as hell! Sort of gives you access to their system. I like that even if it doesn't have your part shown in the search you can still send it out as a request incase somebody didn't have it listed or get's one in later.

Yes - I've used it a bunch of times. Obviously, you can't completely trust it for exactly the part you are looking for/model year/etc. without doing additional sleuthing. But at least it gives you a good starting point for making phone calls or stopping by the wrecking yard if it happens to be close.

Thanks a lot! This is actually within driving distance for me.

EDIT: Wow this looks like a crash test car, it's got all the markings they use for the crash tests.

Sent this to the shop and they're buying it.
