How does hot lava compare to the orange of the Nissan 350?

Have yet to see a hot lava in person, can anyone compare it to the orange-y color of the Nissan 350Z? I don't think that color (nissan) is particularly attractive, but then I have heard people on this forum say they did not like hot lava til seeing it person. If it's (hot lava) better, can you quantify in what way, when compared to the nissan color, since I have only seen that one?
oh actually i also saw an orange corvette today (ew, ugly). you can compare it to that color too, if you've seen both. or all three.
thanks....

The 350z color is Lemans Sunset i always liked it but wouldn't own one. I haven't seen a hot lava but i thought it clashed with all the red on the inside.

I LOVE MY HOTLAVA!!!! it's by far my favorite color the car comes in!

BRAWL 08-20-2012 01:08 AM

I have seen both in person and the hot lava strikes me as a deeper, less metallic and an all round richer colour.

I like the 350z colour, but by comparison the the hot lava is a considerable more desirable colour. Of course, it is yet to be seen how it will hold up to sun fading

please try to only post if you can legitimately answer the question, which required a comparison between the orange Nissan and hot lava, not a declaration of your love.

i think the Hot Lava is a little more subtle until the sunlight hits it. Once the sun hits it the color absolutely POPS. the 350Z is closer to an almost gold than a brown in my opinion and doesn't pop nearly as much as the Hot Lava does. I think personally the Hotlava is alot more vibrant than the Z. XP there!

I can declare love moar noaw?

Hard to answer the question because the Z came in more than one shade of orange.

When I see hot lava, I see this:

I want to love the color, but this still clouds my thoughts.

I forgot about the Solar Orange, i'm pretty sure its really rare most people have seen the Lemans Sunset color.

yes, it was the sunset color

i havent seen the 350 orange in person but comparing my hot lava to pictures on the internet i would say the 350 is more of a flat orange and doesnt have the same metallic shine the hot lava does. hot lava is darker, richer and more vibrant with a sparkly shine to it. under darker light the 350 looks kind of like hot lava, but under bright light it looks washed out.

you should really try to see it in person, some people like it and some people dont. comparing it to any other orange/copper color car it is by far the nicest.

hope that helps!

Killerbee 08-20-2012 04:20 AM

personally, I dont like either of them, since i dont like orange as a color at all.

however, the hot lava on the GT86 looks way better than the sunset on the 350z.
Both colors are hard to describe, I'd say the hot lava has more "red" in it than the sunset, so it looks better for my taste (I like red :-)

But in the end, you'll have to see the color yourself, pictures are not really capturing the color right

thank you all for your responses. saying it is nicer than the 350 (while still a subjective comparison) gives me some hope, so I won't be completely scratching it off my short list.
