p0700 code and car won’t start
2018 Brz automatic. Check engine light came on. I stopped and turned engine off. Would not restart. The code was a P0700. After I cleared the code, the car started. Drove 50 miles and the code did not return. Any ideas?

No idea but google is your friend.
"P0700 Subaru The TCM monitors the sensors and actuators relating to transmission control and communicates with the Engine Control Module (ECM) to inform it of any possible issues with the automatic transmission control module. The trouble code P0700 is set whenever the TCM detects a malfunction with the transmission controls.Mar 15, 2022" |
I also have a 2018 BRZ auto and just had the same code when I got a smog check. Last smog check was fine without any codes or changes to the car. Also received codes U0076 and U0122. Car operates just fine in my case. I'm having Subaru check it out. My car only has 7000 miles on it... I did search the codes. It could be as simple as an indicator light or as complicated as a problem with the transmission control module. I don't have the equipment to diagnose the problem.

They cleared the codes on mine and all was fine. It took driving it about 60 miles for all the code history to clear. They could find nothing wrong. The tech indicated he had seen this happen before and thought it might be a weak battery issue -- this is the original battery on a 2018 car with only 7200 miles on it.
