2022+ specific oil coolers

As of now, there's 3 solid options for oil coolers. I'll update the post as appropriate, when other track worthy coolers hit the market.

Minimum: Color fittings $679.99

https://counterspacegarage.r.worldss..._fa24_2022.jpg

Pros:
- Lowest cost
- Setrab 915 core
- Good mounting solution
- Minimum amount of oil cooling I'd recommend for any GR86/BRZ that sees hard driving or track use
- Safety wire for banjo bolts (they took my feedback seriously!)
- Mocal sandwich plate

Cons:
- Dumps heat in front of radiator
- more complex installation with factory heat exchanger removal
- Banjo bolts (but includes safety wire now per my recommendation!)

Middle option: Jackson Racing $895 w/ optional shroud

https://counterspacegarage.r.worldss...6_brz_2022.jpg

Pros:
- Has an optional shroud (that everyone should order) for superior cooling efficiency compared to the Color Fittings option
- Setrab 915 core
- Lines are wrapped in key locations to prevent abrasion
- Mounts onto the stock impact beam
- Proven history with 1st gen cooling
- Best middle ground value (with shroud)

Cons:
- pushlock Aeroquip lines; gets the job done, but is bare minimum
- Dumps heat in front of radiator
- Performance no better than Color Fittings without the shroud

Top option: GReddy $1520 MSRP: $1600

https://counterspacegarage.r.worldss..._fa24_2022.jpg

Pros:
- Shrouded for maximum efficiency
- Koyo core
- Proven history of BEST cooling with 1st gen
- Mounts off to the side, but directs air to the cooler from the main bumper opening
- Dumps the heat around to the side, away from the radiator
- EARLS braided lines and fittings
- Lines are wrapped in key locations to prevent abrasion

Cons:
- Highest price
- Uses non-OEM filter (but commonly available 3/4x16UNF )

Are there any good radiator options for the new BRZ? Do the ones for first gen fit? I'd first want to upgrade the radiator to see if it helps with oil temps, too..

Damn that Greddy price tag!

Any pictures of it?

First gen radiators fit. It won't really help oil temps with the factory heat exchanger, as most folks are already sitting on thermostat anyways.

I have a Jackson racing unit + shroud purchased through CSG on my 22 BRZ and I have to say it has really surprised me with how much of an impact it made on my oil temps. I saw 20-25 degree shifts on track which was a lot more than I expected.

Very happy with it.

The car now comes stock with an oil cooler. There is a plate on the oil filter fitting that is fed with coolant. Has anyone experienced high oil temps with track use on the 2022+?

I was definitely going past what I would consider the safe zone, esp with the 0w/20 that Subaru used from the factory. I was seeing 265+ on 90 degree days, and with the Jackson Racing cooler and shroud Im seeing temps around 240ish.

I'm using 5W-30 oil, and the oil temps never exceed low 270s degrees F. I know the oil can easily take it, since oil lab results up to 300 degrees F show little to no degradation and no abnormal metal wear, but I'm sure we'll see results from '22+ owners as well. I'm leaving it alone for my track build.

That plate has shown to not do much of anything on track really. People tried to run that style on the first gen and temps were pushing 270+ vs. under 240 or less with a air cooled style one.

I did two sessions beating the piss out of my '22 in 90+F at COTA in Austin and was surprised with how stable the oil temps were for both 20-25 minute sessions.

Not quite as good as my old 981 GT4 and 991.2 GT3, but under 270F and with synthetic oil, I'm totally fine with those temps.

Anyway, I think it's totally cool for those who want to upgrade their oil coolers or have other mods (i.e. more power/heat) that need it, but I'm leaving mine alone. Especially, since I don't want to give them a reason to deny warranty coverage if I have an issue down the road.

It's not a matter of "the oil taking it" as much as the oil thinning out.

The oil may not break down, but it's not great for lubrication at those temps.

Right, but if the oil is no longer lubricating sufficiently, then you'd also see elevated presence of metals in oil as evidence of wear in bearings. I definitely plan to get some analysis done on this platform, too.
