The color is called "Flame Orange" (フレイムオレンジ) that is reminiscent of the last gen 86

In these official renders of the JDM the orange looks a lot more nice and metallic. But in the video (see master thread) it looks like it's probably the same as the NA orange.
Just wtf with those NA wheels. I thought they were the wheels from JDM GR parts catalog and looked bad because of the black finish but they're different. https://www.trdparts.jp/product/86/i..._parts_512.jpg |
This is the one I would have traded my '13 Hot Lava for.
The US color, no thanks. Such a shame. |
Its kind of underwhelming.
Just change the stitching colour (in this case, orange) and give it a different set of wheels, some special edition plaques.....and call it a special edition lol. I suppose this is par for the course though....pretty similar to the 860 special edition of the first gen refresh (just orange stitching and different exterior colours on the "not officially available as a trim level yet" dual HVAC equipped car in 2017, and the hakone edition (that one has a bit more of a wow factor with the green exterior/tan interior/bronze wheels combo) |
is it actually a different shade of orange? paint code confirmation?
seems highly unlikely |

the top one is clearly in a darker light, and the bottom one seems to be oversaturated. I highly doubt the colours are different....someone's been playing around with the images to make it look better in the japanese release. |
I read today that the JP version is a different color that is the same as a previous edition that was released in JP for the Gen 1. It also looks a lot different in most of the pics I've seen, but I'm certainly no expert.

In some pics it looks like a copper metallic, tho looks like the same flat orange (with additional orange peel :P) in this one: https://www.ft86club.com/forums/atta...1&d=1658632309 Regardless, still prefer the JDM - not digging the wheels, the black bill, or the graphics on the NA version. |
Agreed, I prefer the JP as well.

Here are some vids from the same japanese car channel between the anniversary GR86 and a 2022 WRX.
https://youtu.be/UWyla0iFNZo https://youtu.be/z_FE8hukcl0 The camera in the GR86 vid seems to have a bit more contrast than the WRX vid. With that said comparing the GR86 at about 1:52 and the WRX at about 3:14 (my best guess as to where the vids show as close a contrast/brightness as each other), the shade of orange looks pretty identical. |
