Scratchy Noise and Peddle vibration
Solved: Dented passenger side sway bar bracket
Background: Hey guys, so I just recently hit a pretty decent sized rock and it sounded bad. I checked to see if anything fell off or broke but I did not see anything wrong in the engine bay and nothing hanging underneath the car. Issue: Now when I step on the throttle from standstill I hear a weird scratchy/sandy noise like something is dragging and a weird vibration on the gas peddle for a second or 2 then no vibration and sound. This was not there until I hit the rock. When I do a gentle start nothing vibrates or makes noise only when I do a harder start I hear and feel it. If I WOT while already moving the issue is not there and nothing while revving in neutral either. Any thoughts? Specs: 2014 frs Mods: full exhaust, aftermarket wheels |
sounds to me like you damaged either the driveshaft or one of the axles. Also it could be that you damaged a brake backing plate and its touching the rotor, but being that you say it happens when you get on the gas, I would be looking at the driveshaft or one of the rear axles. Just a guess, but its based in logic

I'd guess that something (like a heat shield or under panel) came lose or got bent by the rock. Maybe it only "hits" when the engine is torquing over.
I'd suggest you get your car up on a rack and look for something that may be hitting when the engine moves in the torquing position. Bubba says to take a crowbar and bend away anything that looks like it might be touching something else - :iono: |
