My 2014 FR-S finally has a door ding, and now I feel...relieved?

I've owned my FR-S since late 2013, and all this time the outer body has never been dinged or dented, until now.

After my regular car wash earlier today, I noticed a small circular ding just above the rear right tire.

At first, I was shocked to see it and just froze for a few seconds thinking that it can't be real. Now that I've driven my car home, the shock has wore off and transformed into relief. My car is no longer immaculate, and I can stop having anxiety about keeping it perfect.

If it bothers you enough a PDR specialist can get that out. Likely cost around 200

I thought about it. I'm also researching the level of difficulty of fixing this on my own. But based on what I've found so far, PDR even on basic-bitch dings are not for amateurs to quickly learn, since the consequence is that you can cause the damage to be worse than it was before. I also have the problem of not having access to real body panels to practice on.

But if I do pay a PDR technician to fix it, my car will be back to immaculate shape, and thus my anxiety returns. :(

I'm leaning more towards just leaving it as is. These cars are not $300K+ Ferraris.

I bought the PDR gear a couple of years ago as my wife’s car was (badly) damaged by a hail storm and we bought it back from insurance (for salvage price). Given it wasn’t worth much anymore, and because we were in Covid lockdown, I thought I’d give it a go. Spent quite a bit of time on it - probably wasn’t until I’d ‘repaired’ 500 or so dents that I started to improve. Definitely not something you’d practice on a perfectly good car.

I have had various different kits in my Amazon shopping cart several times now. I have always chickened out at the last minute.

I still remember when my dear wife (then fiancée) backed right into my bumper several moons ago! She was shivering when she came told me what happened.. I still have her.

The wife, I mean. The bumper can be fixed/replaced pretty easily. A good wife, especially in this market, is rare!

I was amazed one time i looked at my door at the wrong angle and saw literally about a dozen dents.

In normal light you can't see them but it was pretty shocking.

I would remove the wheel and the liner and press on it gently with a tennis ball from behind. It will likely pop out.
