Trunk button inside car doesnt work

trunk open button on the dash doesnt open trunk. Key and keyfob opens the trunk tho. i read that it may be the valet button inside the trunk but since the key and keyfob button still work, probably not it. anyone have any insight? point me to where to check next?

Why not check the valet button instead of assuming? Are you holding down the button, or pressing? I have to hold mine

i already have checked it, i checked if the valet button does work,(it does) and yes i have pressed down on the release button. i held it for a bit, just trying to figure this out before i leave this car sitting for 3 months. work stuff ugh

The key and fob are supposed to still work with the valet button on.
What won’t work is the dash button and the valet ignition only key.
All is working as it should.
If the key or fob didn’t work then there would be no way to open the trunk to turn off the valet button.

@Ultramaroon - what did he just say?

I'd as Bubba, but he just lit a firecracker in his mouth thinking it was a cigarette. He just left me holding his beer - :iono:

Story time*

this was the state of the interior when i got it. it was so gross, like just trash inside the entire car, old receipts, food, gum, trash in general. I couldn't believe it crazy how dirty someone can barely take care of it. Missing so much, small things but wish had them like both wheel fender, missing carpets, none of the trunk accessories, bleh. its no wonder it was "cheap" owned from some spoiled kid, fell behind on payments and since his dad cosigned for the loan with him, had to take over and pay it off. spoiled because his dad got him an evo 9 after this. anyway, kid turbo-ed the frs and blew the motor in 6 months. rod knock. motor is seized, cant spin it at all. theres a list of stuff thats wrong with it too long to list ill be here forever. ohhh it only has 1 key too. he lost the spare one, his dad said it did have 2 keys when they bought it. it's been an experience.

Now that you see the OPs situation, don't you ( and @Tcoat ) feel badly about telling the OP to RTFM? - :confused0068:

Oh, Bubba tossed away the firecracker from his mouth before the fuse burnt down to it. So, he is OK - sort of - :D

Seriously? How else do you figure out what's wrong if you never know how it's supposed to work?

No... RTFM

Hells bells, I learned a lot about this old Oliver 70 tractor by figuring out how it was supposed to work ....... because it didn't HAVE a fucking manual - :confused0068:

The first thing was to NOT wrap your thumb around the crank handle, when trying to start it - :eyebulge:

Happy 4th - old man - :D

Inside the trunk on the driver side, there should be a tiny button. Is it pressed in or out?

after my sub got stolen from the trunk, i unplugged the button for the next 2 years until i (somewhat) got over it.

unplugged doesn't always mean a lack of care ;)

glad you figured it out though
