Too tall in '22 BRZ at first track day - Options?

Hi All - Long time lurker here, posting to see about options/ideas for tall people. I bought the BRZ because I liked the coupe and I basically don't fit in a Miata at 6'2". All was good, loving the new car. Exhaust, ceramic coat done.

First track day yesterday. Aside from melting the stock PS4's, the biggest issue I had was that I had to lean the seat waaay back to fit in and not knock my head around with a track helmet on. The track we have here is tight and lots of turning. I felt like I was not secured by the seats AT ALL and subsequently bruised both knees badly trying to hold myself in. This doesn't happen as much when the seat is more upright.

So I'm flying all over the seat and on top of that, the steering wheel is too far away and I really didn't like the way the ergos felt in that position.

What are my options here? Lower the seat (is this possible?)? Race seat (also daily it so don't want to lose airbags? Buy a bigger car? I also have a c6 corvette and I fit in that no problem (big 'murica car). One guy at the track told me there is a seat belt clincher that tightens it up a lot?

Looking for any opinions/ideas. Thanks!

I'm 6'0". In my first track session with my 2013 FRS, I didn't realize that I could lower the seat with the handle on the left side below the seat back adjustment (lol). I also found that I could reverse the head rest which allows me to sit up straighter. When I drive, I wear "minimalist" shoes. I feel the pedals better and it allows me to bring the seat forward just a little bit more. It still a tight fit with a helmet on. When I upgrade my helmet, I'll try to find one that not too tall, if "they" make one. I have a CG lock on my seatbelt. It keeps me planted but unfortunately I don't think they are available anymore.

I'm assuming you used the stock adjustment to lower the seat, but if not... lower the seat. I'm the same height as you, and variances in leg/torso proportion aside, you should have no issue sitting normally in the car with a helmet.

Thanks for posting that. I tried my helmet in my BRZ2 the other day and was surprised to find I had less headroom. In my preferred seating position my helmet is just grazing the roof, whereas I had a good amount more headroom in my FRS. Luckily I think I can make it work, but it’s a difference I didn’t expect.

Thanks, I'll definitely check this but I think it's all the way down. It could have been an abnormally tall helmet. Another guy with a '22 BRZ was there and he was about 6 feet tall and having similar issues. I think helmet choice will be an impacting factor as well.

I had assumed someone would have made a lowering bracket but I can't seem to find anything.

I’m 6’2” my kid is 6’4”, we co-drive the car at the track. We both have long legs and proportionally shorter torsos but don’t find it too tight. He is at the edge but it works. Seat for either of us is not excessively reclined. I wear an Ariai he wears a Bell.

I had issues with helmet rubbing on roof with stock seat and I tried stretching the springs underneath the seat but it didn't work. In the end, I installed a bucket seat with PCI sliders and its perfect, no more rubbing.
