Ps. An offset of +20 would be pushin it. Stay 8.5/9.5 30 -38

@DarrenDriven - Useful site for those interested in what a stretch will look like on their wheel widths. It shows about every combo you can think of and also within each category it breaks down by tire make. Might want to add to useful links.

Looking to purchase 18x9.5 et38 all around. I was hoping to go 245/35 with a 1.5 drop and some neg camber. Is this going to work or should i go square 225/40 or staggered 225/40 in the front. Application is mostly daily driver, inputs appreciated.

ill86 08-30-2012 02:29 PM

If it were me I wouldn't stagger.
What kind of tire are you looking for?
Do you want to stretch a tire with 225 on 9.5?

gmookher 08-30-2012 03:09 PM

My m3 is staggered, the 911 is also, but I dont think there is any benefit to staggering wheels on the brz. Why do you want to stagger aside from it looking cool? Do you feel too much turn in? is the tail coming around on you?

I actually want to go 245/35 squared thus the inquiry if this setup would fit if lowered at 1.5. The other options were if that setup wont work.

I want to get 18x8 +45 front and 18x9.5 rear. Tire rack says it'll fit but star specs don't come in the recommended size of 235/35 but they do come in 235/40. Recommended size for the rear is 255/35 however star specs do come in that but not 255/40. My question is will the difference in sidewall height cause a problem or not? Thanks in advance

It all goes by overall diameter. You do not have to match up the sidewall numbers. Sorry if i am misunderstanding your question.

Based on this: http://www.dunloptires.com/en-US/tir...starspec-tires

I would choose:

225/40 fr, 255/35 rr
Or
235/40 fr, 265/35 rr

For an 18x9.5 the 245/35 is a better match imo. 225/40 is a bit of a stretch.

Question for the professional. I am looking to get some snow tires, I want my contact patch to be the same as stock but narrower in order to cut through the snow. DO 15 inch wheels clear the brakes on our car? I would prefer to put a 15 but I can go with a 16.

Picture of equal contact patches.
Say the tire on the right is stock, What size is the one on the left?
What size wheel and tire do I need to buy? Would a 185/65/15 do the trick? On a 6 inch wide wheel sound good?

Guys would a 17x9 +35 on the stock tires be unsafe? I don't want to waste my stocks... is that too much stretch?

boarder1995 09-04-2012 03:50 PM

That's a LOT of stretch. I'd only consider 8.5 max for a normal 215 tire, whereas our stock 215's are a narrow version. 8 to be safe, 8.5 rim for stock 215 would be max safely in my book.

I had 215's on 9in VSKF's and the stretch wasnt excessive stretch.

Hey guys would 18x9.5 +45 all around with 235/40/18 tires fit? Stock height, planning to lower soon.

Thanks
