Single piece aluminum driveshaft? I still have nightmares about critical speed and pinion angles.
|
Hell yeah, these are my favorite people to watch, when they're not doing boats/at shit

DSS has already came out and said critical speed is the issue in the one piece AL shaft. Carbon and steel have higher CS so it’s not really a problem with those shafts. I talked with DSS about it after blsfrs had his issue. |

There’s a thread on it somewhere a few guys were working on it. The pinion angles on my car were not bad without shimming anything but my subframe is a little higher then stock. If I find it I’ll link it. |

This is from IAG for a 2008-14 STI.
The Driveshaft Shop 1-piece 6061-T6 3" aluminum shaft that is approximately 1/2 the weight of the factory 2-piece driveshaft. The 1-piece aluminum shaft features larger, replaceable, greaseable u-joints and can handle about 650WHP and 155 MPH. By removing the factory 2-piece shaft and installing a single shaft the car will feel more responsive due to the lighter weight of the shaft and also the fact that the hanger bearing is not moving up and down during acceleration. Please Note: This driveshaft is rated to 650WHP and a top speed of 155MPH and is not recommended for use above this speed. This aluminum driveshaft is 3" diameter and your vehicle may require some minor modifications to the driveshaft tunnel in order to ensure proper fitment. Make sure there is at least 3/4" clearance around the driveshaft before use, and that the differential bushings are not worn as this can cause damage to the driveshaft. Damage caused by improper fitment will not be covered under warranty. I'm guessing the STI driveshaft is much shorter that ours. |
I didn't bother measuring when I had the two driveshafts side by side, but the K series one is a few inches shorter.
I intend to have my stock driveshaft shortened to match the K series one at some point over the next few months. |
their last video said they are going to turbo or SC it but they arent sure year. I cant wait to watch the carnage
