Hollow front sway bar: Tanabe?

For use in RTR Build (stock springs)

I'm thinking I'm gonna needed a front sway soon and would rather go hollow than solid.

So far the only supplier out there seem to Tanabe, but it seems their front sways are typically non-adjustable. Has anyone tried it with stock springs in an autocross environment, yet?

Sam Strano 08-19-2012 01:43 AM

Strano Performance Parts (me) is working on it. I shoud have the test fitting done this week. If it goes well, bars in about 4...after Solo Nationals. 22mm tubular.

And being i own said car, and autox a little here and there ;) I hope I can get you to go that way...

Thank you, Sam! Put me in line for one!
Since your car is lowered, did you have to make a set of adjustable end links to fit it properly? Development of front end links seem lagging for this car.

Sam Strano 08-19-2012 11:08 PM

No links.. yet. I am working on it because ultimately I will do an adjustable bar and the links need to be shorter to get that done. Right now, I need a bar out there. :)

Can you send me your name and some contact information?

Sam is the stock 18mm front bar solid or hollow? I finally got some runs in anger this weekend and have some thoughts now about the car that mainly focus on how crappy the stock tires are and how the car is a bit transitionally loose but is fairly neutral on sweepers as steering with the right foot works well. Not sure how things will change with better tires and a toe adjustment to offset the front bar change. It was quite the change after back to back runs with the prep'd WRX.

I just compared the 18 mm FR-S stock front bar with a 17.25 mm stock subaru '04 wrx rear bar and they were similar in weight and no evidence of seams and the end designs both looked like die pressed metal. I cut the wrx rear in half and it is solid so I am convinced the FR-S stock front bar is solid also. I'm waiting for a 22 mm solid front bar.

Thanks Randy, I assumed it was solid and talking to Sam today to order a muffler delete it sounds like he does as well. With that in mind, I want a 22mm hollow to start so I'm definitely thinking Sam is on the right track based on my car's behavior. 22mm solid, at least initially sounds like it might be a bit too stiff and of course, heavier.

what material are you using?

i want to sign up for a front sway bar too.

Any update on this?

Eibach has released their sway bar set. Unfortunately it seems it is only sold as a front/rear set but at least they are hollow!! Front is 25mm.

Looks like they are deleting Sam's posts?

I'm in line for Strano's sway bar and he finally got the bushings and is testing the bar now. He knows I want one as soon as they are ready as our season is 11 months out of the year here so we are still going so getting me the bar anytime now still helps.

FT-86 SpeedFactory 09-20-2012 09:28 AM

Eibach's front sway is available separately and it is a hollow 25mm unit.

Release is mid October they say.

For CS/RTR guys, even though it's a set, I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to sell the rear bar off to someone else on here for cheap and still have the front to use.

EDIT: Nevermind, FT86SF beat me to it.

ABQautoxer 09-20-2012 11:27 AM

25mm might be ok but for now I'm going to guess is just a bit too big. Someone will test it in CS/RTR at some point but I'd start with an adjustable 22mm hollow bar and then play with rear toe. Once we finally get some adjustable Konis, we'll be in business.
