OS Giken host

I’m planning on getting the OS Giken within this year but if possible, I’d like to have a separate diff so I can just swap the diffs with the one currently on my ‘18 tS

Does anyone have any experience with doing something similar ? Do I just look for Y58 4.3 differential or is it possible to just purchase the diff housing ?

Get a separate whole assembly, swap the OS Giken in, then swap the whole assembly into your car and keep your original assembly as a backup, that's what I did.

This is what I'm trying to finish up this year too (the unit is backordered like everything else in the world).
For the carrier, just buy whatever you can find, the housing the is the same.
I actually bought one from an automatic twin but I'm obviously only using it for the carrier itself.

Ah, thanks for the feedback! :( if I made it this past weekend, I would have been able to see your car in action lol

When you say “carrier”, are you literally referring to the metal housing itself and nothing else ? I’ve been watching BTR Justin’s diff swap video but I still wasn’t sure exactly what I needed along with the housing, in case I bought a diff from an auto instead of manual, etc

I would buy the whole diff assembly with a Torsen and ring and pinion inside, this way you do not have to tear apart your original diff and you can keep it on the side as a backup or if you ever sell the car it is a piece of cake to put the original diff back in.

If you get a complete pumpkin, then you can hot-swap the entire differential assembly.

Remember to stock up on axle seals, as they tear rather easily.

OS Giken LSDs are backordered. PM me to order one and get in line for the next batch.

Carrier/pumpkin/differential = all interchangeable terms.
You will go on ebay or to a local scrapyard and pick one up.
Since you have a 2018 with the 4.3 final drive you want something like this so you can do what Code Money said below.

If you were going to go with a different final drive then you could buy one like this which obviously is cheaper because of the 4.1 gearing.

Oh and just as CSG said, they are backordered so if you're serious about this put in your order now.
I put in my order in November with an ETA of March and it's been pushed back to July.

@BackFlip may have a 4.3 diff assembly for cheaper than ebay, I bought my spare from him a few months ago.
