It's rare I see them. Usually just guys with their actual race cars.

I been looking at a hybrid S for it's 3pt compatibility even though I don't need it in my car, never know when you will be riding in or driving another car. I just picked up a HANS 3 a while back.

Trusting a harness bar with a thin piece of tube (that's not to spec of an sanctioning body) is like saying you'd trust a piece of paper clip to hold you in.

Under load, the bar is not properly supported and WILL BEND

Most/all places are starting to require 1.750x.120" Tubing. Min spec is usually 1.50x.120"

With that being said, I hope OP isn't planning on running a 4 Point Harness either. Anti-Sub or not, 5+ Point Harnesses are preferred.

That's the first I have seen of any issue but thanks for posting it. It is not really to the point that others have said not to use one but is still an interesting example.

I thought 6pts were preferred? Same functionally but not a single strap running against your junk like a 5pt.

Yes 5/6 point harness is preferred but sometimes not practical. I ran a Schroth quick fit pro (DOT approved 4 point harness with break away anti sub on the inboard shoulder strap, even compatible with HANS) in my previous car with the stock seats.

I didn't use it when street driving (sometimes you need to be bale to lean forwards, say to check traffic around a building or fence that's a bit close to the road) but it definitely kept me planted on track. Since it's DOT approved it passed scrutineering as well (most 4 points would not have been allowed).
