Seat belt chime delete only temporary?? ..

Well, after successfully performing the 20 seat belt in/outs in 30 seconds to delete (or so I thought) the AWFUL, ANNOYING, RIDICULOUS seat belt chime, it somehow has come back on its own. I did not disconnect the battery or do anything else (that I recall) that would have reset the system.

Anybody else have this issue? I will do it again. I opted over the 20/30 procedure over the semi-permanent disablement for a few reasons. First, I didn't really feel like cracking open the dash and taking the cluster out (at least not yet). Although admittedly, watching the video it does not appear to bad. Second, it doesn't bother me to have the 4-5 chimes on start up. Having said that I am one step closer to going the unplug the speaker direction. Question for those that did that, does the unplugging of the speaker disable the other functions that go on when seatbelt unbuckled (dashboard light, radio turned down)?

Did anything else reset? Gear shift indicator, rev warning? Just wondering if it's related.

In my BRZ, it hasn't come back yet.

Not that I noticed. For example, I had turned off hill assist at the same time and that didn't turn back on. FWIW, I haven't turned the gear shift indicator on or set the rev warning yet - both on my to do lists.

I disconnected the speaker from the instrument cluster. You lose all beeps and warnings from the cluster but the only one I wish I still had is the sound when the blinker is on.

Same happened on my BRZ... It worked on my first try but it came back a short while later. A week maybe? I haven't bothered to do it again though.

Can't it just be disabled in the ROM with Techstream or Carista?

I think that method only works until the battery is disconnected?

Cant remember where I heard that though, so grains of salt.

Not sure if techstream works on 2nd gen.

I guess I can't say for sure either. Assumed so because it's a core tool.

No question that is true. But I didn't disconnect the battery. A little update, it currently seems to be working intermittently and I have yet to figure out why. I also haven't re-done the procedure which is the next step.

As for disconnecting the speaker, I think I don't want to go that route as it also eliminates other cluster warning sounds which I don't want to do.

Last resort, I believe someone detailed a fairly simple method for disconnecting it below the seat which would be fine with me. I would only do driver side as there is a passenger in my car so rarely that it makes no difference.

Could you set your GSI/rev warning to see if it comes and goes with it?

Haven't done that yet. But btw, I did notice that the GSI was activated on my cluster, just wasn't aware of it. I know for my first gen, default was GSI off (not sure why). Was default for second gen GSI on? If it wasn't, not sure who would have turned it on in my car as I got it straight off the truck with 7 miles on the odometer.

I thought that the default was off. I just think with the people here who have had theirs randomly turn off, it would be interesting to see if there's a pattern with the seatbelt chime and dash settings.
