Stock Stereo Head Unit Languages
1) Anybody know if we can add more compatible languages to it?
I put some korean songs on my USB but it just shows up as - - - -. 2) Also anybody know why the stupid unit doesn't read some files properly? It claims no artist/track title on some of then even though its all there. |

2) No idea. What MP3 player are you using, or are you just using a USB flash drive? |
1) Yeah I figured considering how its the dash bar setup >_>
2) Simple USB flash drive. |
Then I'd say it has something to do with how your songs were encoded. Some radios respond better to certain types of encoding than others. But I'm also just pulling this guess out of my butt, so take it with a grain of salt...

Hahaha, I'll say approximately 10% of my songs aren't being read properly - I just sat in the car shuffling through songs and renaming them individually that's been messed up :/
Still needs work though - I have 7 GBs of files :'/ - audio still works fine though |
yep. even aftermarket decks which should be able to display it (LCD displays) don't display it properly, nor does the BRZ factory unit, which really sucks given that Japanese made decks should read Japanese!
|
What I love doing is playing Japanese music loud and when the windows are down; then when people look over at me funny, I tell them that the damn radio in my Toyota is Japanese too, and all my CD's sound like this now.
Would you believe I had one guy who believed me one time? |
I think the biggest problem is that engineers and product development people at these manufacturers of OE and Aftermarket radios in the USA, despite parent companies being in Japan, do not share the same fondness or are exposed to foreign music or care much as we do about CD-TEXT and IDv3 tags in different encoding. I know at least a few such engineers...LOL!! I won't name anyone, but he knows enough parameters in sound and acoustic engineering to put the Shuttle in to space, probably, but cares not about who is on the TOP20 in Japan's J-WAve list... or in the USA for that matter!! Hahah!
I hope this situation becomes different in the near future, as if they had half the understanding of companies such as Apple or SCEI, they would have had this featured in all radios already! Apple device in any country can display and even operate in more than 25 languages!! They can make all the excuses with how much licensing for fonts or certain technologies cost, or what region it is limited to... Because, if you ask me, it is them who can afford to do this in a quick process whether legal or international, and stick us with $2 for each unit sold... Something most of us will gladly pay. In contrast, most Korean made decks sold in KOREA does display Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, as well as English fine... And in Japan, most aftermarket decks display Japanese and English fine since 1986!! They are on to something here!! Get with the program already!! |
Nice, lets find a korean model and toss them in our cars! :D
