Take the "S" section at the beginning of the track flat out in the twins. For me, I have to start turning in for the left turn earlier than I originally thought, kinda like the left hairpin turn before the tunnel at Trial Mountain. I picked up the most time at the chicane. Brake much later than you think you should. I'm pretty much braking right before it actually starts and trail brake halfway through it. I lost the most time at the boot at the corner going right. I guess it's called the "Toe" of the boot? Haven't really figured that one out, but going around 60 mph in the twins seems to work and don't overshoot the braking zone (I still haven't figured out where's the best point). Speaking of the boot section, I think that's where I held gears instead of upshifting. The second to last corner, the left turn one, treat it like R130 (or what ever that turn is called) at Suzuka. Don't actually need to brake in the twins for it, and a quick stab at the brakes for much faster cars. The last corner I kept down shifting down to 3rd, but stay in 4th. LMK how it goes after trying those out. |

I had a head start at Watkins Glen from Assetto Corsa. I tend to prefer shorter slower tracks but I really like it. Definitely all about staying in high gear and holding momentum through turns. https://i.imgur.com/w6eIHfa.jpg |

I’m throwing the towel. I shave sec or so, but this is best I can do at this track
|
Also to add, I'll prob add Unlimited Class from Race 6. I think, that could be interesting to see how much different time everyone gets.

This is where I don't shine. Haha. |

I remember in GT5 days going into lobbies I’d ham-fistedly tune my car up to max specs and not be competitive at all. Figured oh well I suck. GT6 quick match same thing… until I tried some of the events where you could only use a set selection of loaner vehicles. Found myself out front with surprising regularity! Turns out tuning can make worlds of difference and I was hopeless at it. Lots of tricks, unrealistic adjustments that would never be faster in real life. I learned just what I needed to be competitive. When GT Sport came it was different, I copied tunes but never really learned it. Haven’t bothered since. |

Back with the original GT and GT2, I knew nothing about tuning cars. Shoot, I had never driven a car at that point yet. I played around with the different adjustments and figured out how each setting affected the car. Didn't really know the mechanics behind them, but just x affects the car in this or that way. I don't really use group 1 and higher racing cars, so I'm not used to how they drive. Pretty sure I wouldn't be the fastest if we had to use those. Quote:

I gave WG a quick try on the 22 BRZ and the best I could come up with was 2:13 and change. I'll give it a few more laps today.
Edit: How is the BRZ lower than the GR in PPs? |

There is also the thing with either using the GT86 Special edition and the STi BRZ, the STi has more PP than any other first gen. |

I agree, its been discussed at length that the new gen BRZ is more track focused than the GR, even by the slightest margin. Also the case with 1st gen. That should technically put the BRZs at a higher PP than 86s. Pretty sure Toyota slid a couple Starbucks gift cards to the devs whenever they were getting the licenses and permits for the cars. |
Race 5 is finished.
1st Gen Laz - 2:11.533 ichi - 2:13.642 2nd Gen fredzy - 2:08.309 Laz - 2:08.874 ichi - 2:10.602 Current point ranking: 1st Gen Laz - 25 pts ichi - 20 pts 2nd Gen Laz - 23 pts ichi - 18 pts fredzy - 16 pts We’ll have Independence Day break & we’ll be back Racing again from July 9th. @Kaotic Lazagna make sure to choose Race 6 track by July 7th. @fredzy you got a bit more time. You got until July 14th to choose the track for Race 7. |
Gonna keep with the "I don't like this track" train and say Autopolis full course for round 6. Not sure why I dislike this track so much.

With that said, I’m not best at it lol |

I wish UMC (or old name MMP)… but sadly Utah isn’t that popular plus Salt Flats is more popular lol |

Isn’t it? This is my usual convo at the event. Dude: cool, cool… so where are you living now? Me: Middle of nowhere Dude: Where? Me: Utah Dude: Where’s that? Me: have you heard of Salt Flats? Dude: Yeah! Me: I live 2hrs away from there. 7 out of 10 new ppl convo will end that way lol |
Hopefully everyone had a nice week break! Race 6: Autopolis - Full course will be happening from tomorrow ~ July 15th.
I'm also adding Unlimited Class from Race 6. Here's a quick guide to Unlimited class. Tires: Racing Soft Mods: Unlimited. Mod as much as you can! Cars: Toyota - '15 GT86 - 16 GT86 Limited - '16 GRMN 86 - '21 GR86 RZ Subaru - '15 BRZ S - '18 BRZ STI Sport - '21 BRZ S So other than Gr4 GT86, Rally GT86 or GT300 BRZ, you're allow to use any 86/BRZ. |

Even though I'm the one that chose it, I'm so not looking forward to this round. LOL. I think I'll do one with a stock GR86 like we have been, as well as the zenki 1st gen, and one with a modded GR86. Not sure if I'll go all out on mods as I don't really like doing the weight reduction mods or engine internals for some reason. |

Also, I think we should prohibit nitrous. LOL

Has anyone done any laps at Autopolis yet? I put a few laps in with GR86 but was petty fatigued by then and just wanted to go to sleep. Barely got under 2:08. I can tell there's a lot of time left out there.
I did the CE beforehand, struggled with it purely out of learning the track. I think my problem with it and why I can't seem to learn it well is there are few landmarks on most of the track. Usually not a big deal but there are 3 whole areas where all of the curves sort of blend together and it takes a lot longer than usual for me to get the hang of placing the car. I get totally lost. |
Quote:
Honestly CE screwed me over. Because 86 & GTR character & grip is completely different, so if you try to apply same kinda thing into 86, it doesn’t work… at least for me. |
I was gonna try it on Saturday, but got lazy and played Rocket League instead. Lol
That's also my problem. I also use landmarks for my braking and turn in reference points. Couldn't ever find good ones for that track. |

Oh, first corner I use the perpendicular line on the ground for my braking point. |
A problem I have with braking/turn in points is that I mostly use the bumper cam view. And at some tracks, due to topography, you can't see very well from being so low to the ground.
|
Gonna try to get the times for the 3 cars tonight.

Or is that too low of expectation? lol :burnrubber: :burnrubber: :burnrubber: |

Okay, here are my times for the zenki 86 and stock GR86. 4 laps each and called it quits.
