Do any of you use the motion sense to steer? I was pretty surprised by how good that could be back in GT Sport days, though just as I'd feel like I was getting the hang of it I'd have a massive crash. I ended up using the D-pad to steer since it was the only way I was ever really good at with a controller.

Kaotic Lazagna 10-10-2022 01:50 PM

What's motion sense? I just use the left stick for steering. Lol

You can use the gyros in the controller to turn it into a steering wheel haha. There's a separate control config for it. It's neat for sure, can allow pretty similar steering accuracy to a wheel, especially for long banked turns and stuff where it can be tricky to keep steady with the stick. But when things get hairy, they get really hairy quick (for me)

So like a Wii stick/controller? That would mean not that much more than 90* movement for full lock, no? I was never really able to race well on the Wii, so most likely I'll be terrible with that motion sense thing.

Here’s my go, put 4 laps in. Really don’t see where I can find another whole second.

Was Monza done yet? Maybe that for the last round. I hate that track!

Just checked & we haven’t done Monza yet

I usually like how 1st gen 86 drive… but man! I was struggling the under-to-oversteer. I barely made it into 30’s. As for unlimited… let’s not go there lol

ichitaka05 10-16-2022 02:38 AM

Sorry for the late update. Here’s Race 9 results.

1st Gen
gen3v8 - 2:30.041
Laz - 2:30.809
ichi - 2:30.987

2nd Gen
Will - 2:25.879
ichi - 2:26.457
gen3v8 - 2:26.743
fredzy - 2:26.816
Laz - 2:27.027

Unlimited
Will - 2:00.653
Laz - 2:02.756
ichi - 2:02.834

Laz is 1 race away from pulling off hat-trick. Technically he have won the Unlimited class (there’s no way anyone can beat the total score in unlimited class now). Other 2 classes, as long as he gets some kind of point, he’s win the class.

Final race is Autodromo Nazionale Monza - Full Course. GL to everyone!

Kaotic Lazagna 10-16-2022 06:45 AM

Oh dang, I thought I fell behind in points the last few rounds!

Yeah, but that last 3 races. First half, you were taking 1st places kept you at the top.

Here’s my Unlimited class. I think, I can improve another 0.5 secs

How are you handling 2nd Gen? I feel this course isn’t ideal. If I make a tiny mistake, feels like whole lap went to waste. Vs 1st Gen, a bit more forgiving

Oddly enough they felt similar for me, it did take me longer to find my braking points for the 2nd gen tho.

fredzy 10-21-2022 09:43 AM

Ugh, braking points. Why did I suggest Monza!! Was going to do my laps last night but too tired.. will try to do around lunch today.

fredzy 10-21-2022 01:22 PM

Yikes, looks like the update changed PP calcs. Stock 21 GR86 on SS is 517.65 now. I see it in Laz’s thing too

Ok I have to admit that this track is a little fun in this car.

The sausages on the chicane before the last straight really made that tricky. I had a solid .3 sec better way through there but for my fastest lap I had to take the safer way.

Damn… last night I hit 1:42.xxx in Unlimited & was feeling nice about myself… can throw that out of the window lmao

I’ll try to do 1st Gen & Unlimited tonight… but not sure I can hit 1:41.xxx for Unlimited

Did quite a bit of tuning just to be able to some what control the car. Way too drifty.

I was getting quicker lap times in custom races when I got clean air with the same setup. Just can`t quite get there in trials today. Cheers.

It was a busy night, almost forgot to run em tonight.

FYI, 2:10.223 for GR86 doesn’t count. I rewatch the lap & I’ve cut 2nd to last corner. If it was a race, I would have got penalized. I just forgot to delete the time, cuz I was so upset & moved on to GT86 to cool off my head.

Also to add, is it just me or after the update, I feel like 777hp GR86 became easier to drive?

ichitaka05 10-22-2022 01:20 PM

Here’s the final race results

1st Gen
gen3v8 - 2:16.128
ichi - 2:16.589
Laz - 2:16.651

2nd Gen
Laz - 2:10.651
ichi - 2:10.713
fredzy - 2:10.835
gen3v8 - 2:11.776

Unlimited
ichi - 1:41.475
Laz - 1:41.723

& here’s the final points

1st Gen
Laz - 40 pts
ichi - 39 pts
gen3v8 - 35 pts

2nd Gen
Laz - 39 pts
ichi - 34 pts
gen3v8 - 23 pts
Will - 18 pts
fredzy - 17 pts
ML - 0 pt

Unlimited
Laz - 43 pts
ichi - 37 pts
gen3v8 - 21 pts
Will - 15 pts

Congrats to Laz, you’ve finally pulled off a hat trick. I’ve almost stopped you… but I just couldn’t beat your zenki 86 lap times. PM me your email & I’ll send you a small amount of Amazon gift card to ya!

Thanks everyone for playing. I, myself had a fun time. This will end my time keeping track (IRL getting crazy busy), but you guys can keep going.

gen3v8 10-22-2022 01:37 PM

Thanks for the great effort running it Ichitaka05

Thanks! I appreciate the prize, but this was all for fun. Don't want anyone spending money on me.

Thanks for keeping track of everything. I'm not sure if I'll keep going since I'm losing interest in GT7, which is a shame, but in the end, it didn't meet my expectations of being similar to the first two GTs in the series.

gen3v8 10-23-2022 04:56 AM

I`ll go back to daily races etc. I like the fight.

fredzy 10-23-2022 10:25 PM

Thanks from me as well! @ me the next time one of these things goes down and hopefully I’ll be able to commit more to it

I’ve come to enjoy GT7 a lot more than I expected.. but for sure nothing like the old days. It’s kinda sad but I honestly don’t think we can enjoy anything as adults the way we did as kids. Just a part of seeing the world so differently now :(

Here’s hoping GT7 gets the GR Corolla sometime soon, that will be neat.

For me it's not so much as trying to experience it as I did when I was a kid. In fact, I'm sure I'm way more skilled now than I was back then. lol.

It's more of how it was structured. The first two has way more races and championships, and iirc, they weren't always the same cars every time you entered a race and/or championship. The opponents varied. With GT7, it's always the same cars every time you enter a race, with the only difference being their starting position.

That may be due to the higher amount of opponents and the less number of models to choose from in GT7 compared to GT1 and especially GT2. Who knows. lol

ML 10-24-2022 11:06 AM

thanks ichi! Anyone up for a rally 86 race?

spcmafia 04-26-2023 12:10 PM

Welcome to Season 2!
Time Attack Rules:

Season 2 = 10 time attack tracks

Assist Rules:
NO - Counter Assist
NO - Active Stability Management
OPTIONAL - TCS
OPTIONAL - ABS

Gen 1 Modification Rules:
Tires - Sports Soft
Mods - Wheels can be changed, but can't change width or offset.
Cars - Subaru BRZ S '15, Toyota 86 GT '15, 86 GT Limited '16

Gen 2 Modification Rules:
Tires - Sports Soft
Mods - Wheels can be changed, but can't change width or offset.
Cars - Subaru BRZ S '21, Toyota GR86 RZ '21

We'll be following the same format as Season 1; Track gets chosen, drivers have a weeks-time to achieve and post their fastest lap, one for Gen 1, One for Gen 2, points will be given for each gen category. Drivers may opt out to participate on both Gens. The picture shall depict your time, track, and vehicle used.

I'll be proposing the tracks to be used in the upcoming days. Considering the additions since Season 1.

Again, this is an honor system event, respect the track limits and performance points.

I'd be interested in messing with rain but would worry about consistency/repeatability. My experience with it is limited. When I used it it didn't seem to make any sense. It just rained continuously and the track steadily became less and less drivable.

Can always use a list randomizer to pick each weeks track.

These are the tracks for Season 2. The first races will be held in Europe tracks with the ring being the first.

I could give this a shot. Just need to type all the tracks and layouts lol. Might take a bit.
