Brey-Krause harness bar?
Hi I came across this harness bar by Brey-Krause
https://www.bkauto.com/R_1410_BRZ_FR...r_p/r-1410.htm Does anyone have any experience with this? Looks like a solid harness bar and I'm considering running it. |

FWIW for most track groups harness bars are disallowed. They're simply not safe.
For that money, an autopower roll bar is a great alternative |

You should be running a HANS anyways if you're going to be on the track. But that's my own soapbox I'll continue to stand on |
To echo all of the great comments; generally what I've read is that most makers of these bars indicate that they are not for actual safety usage.
That being said, while this one is very nice looking it is also very expensive. A bolt-in four point roll bar with the appropriate corresponding sandwich plates is basically the same price from what I've seen. Also, this one pretty much eliminates the use of the back seats so there doesn't seem to be a lot of benefit over a four point roll bar. |
This miiiight be ok for autox though?
A benefit over a half-cage is that this bar seems to be easily removable. |

I have one these installed. I have the seats replaced with Sparco EVO 2 US seats and 6 pt harnesses. I also use hans device and 3 layer nomex suit as well. I typically only use my car for lapping and not for competitive events nor is it daily driven (2015 FRS with 12000km/7500miles owned since new). I bought this bar because for lapping it seemed like a worthwhile upgrade although not as involved as a full cage its easier to put the car back to stock if/when I decide to sell it. I have the rear seats deleted so no passengers are able to sit in the back.
@yEEt42069 Without causing a huge discussion on here about what's Safest (which ultimately is a full cage, seats/harness systems and the appropriate attire) I decided for myself that this was acceptable protection given my personal situation. My opinion is obviously biased as this is the route that I personally took. I would always recommend someone weigh the risks for your given situation. I however cannot in good conscience recommend doing a set up with this harness bar unless used as I use mine. A proper set of seats, harnesses, PPE (suit, hans, helmet) should also be used with this bar. |

The Brey-Krause unit is very nice. It's just very expensive when you can get a 4 point roll bar that's more safe for about the same price. It has been my understanding that if you are not using a roll bar/cage then you should stick with reclining seats. Fixed back seats are for the roll bar/cage. I know this is something that everyone will love to debate but I'm not looking to do that. It's just what I've always been told. |
