Google+

Anyone else get google+ yet? I got an invite last week, and I smell a facebook killa...

What is it exactly. I took a look at it and it looks like its a social networking site but it lacks a few things. I'm also afraid Google may actually monitor what people do so much more closely than facebook.

Then again... I really liked facebook when it was exclusively for college students. lol

I got to play with it today. I gota say that I don't think it will touch FB at this point, especially now with the FB + Skype deal.

I'm not a huge social media user but got in to G+ in the first round of betas. The G+ user interface and display is far less cluttered than FB (and worlds beyond the archaic MySpace--which I never was a part of). If I never see a Farvmville, Mob, or horoscope post in my feed I will be ecstatic (yes, I have them all blocked in FB already).

Since I have my chat turned off on FB I guess I don't understand why Skype being tied to FB will make it dramatically better....

Here's a few things I've experienced:

-You can't write on other peoples walls, you can only comment on their posts.
-Instead of having mail, I guess you use gmail to send private messages?
-Your friends are put in "circles" (like groups on fb), and you post what you want to each.
-The Hangout feature allows for multi-vid chat, and looks cool but it's still really buggy and crashes a lot.
-"Following" circle: you can add anyone to it (like twitter, you can follow Lady Gaga and etc...)
-Instead of having a "like" button, it's "+1"- kind of lame.
-The biggest downside I know of so far is that anyone can add you to their circle, and you will be notified, but this will turn in to a free for all for spammers.

These are just my initial impressions. The invites have closed, but I'm sure google will open them for another hour next week.

I just got invited on google music, just uploaded most songs i listen to and you can store up to 5,000 music. What i dont like is you need to delete songs one by one or per album, no way to just highlight songs you want to delete. What i like is each songs that dont have a album cover or wrong art cover will be replace b
By the right one. All in all its ok needs alot of work.

It's a different experience, but not nearly popular enough to be competitive with Facebook. Until google+ offers a way to import all of your fb info, I doubt it will get more attention.

So bringing this old thread up... why? Cuz I've finally gave up and got google+ lol

It's kinda mix of twitter & fb. It's kinda weird... maybe I need to get used to it (just like fb)?

You can upload up to 20,000 songs with google music not 5,000 like you said. I have it too. Its awesome once you get all your music uploaded.

They can spy on me all they want as long as they make my life easier while doing so. :happyanim:

I think that's what they were hoping you'd say, i.e., they are going to make your life easier until they make it a whole lot harder.

Only upload what YOU want shared; if you didn't share it with anyone then they can't know. Google is an advertising company, not a search engine so also keep that in mind.
