Coolant gauge reading above normal?

Hi guys,

Just got some services done this weekend on my 2017 86. Changed the oil, rear diff and brake fluid. Usually my coolant and oil temps read at the first line. But when I left the dealer my coolant gauge started reading higher than normal. It's half way between the first and 2nd bars.
I drove back to Toyota and they put the scan tool on and there were no codes and the car was reading at 192 degrees. No signs of overheating, coolant levels were where they should be but the gauge is still high. Anyone have any similar experience?

If I recall correctly, this is completely normal. Your gauge was adjusted to view differently and not show the number values of your coolant. When this is the case, the middle region of the coolant gauge is optimal temperature I believe (in other words, where it is showing now is actually around 190F). If you are to change it back to show the number values, like your oil does, then you will see that it rises no further than around 190F (the first line). There is a simple solution to change this, by holding down a button. I am now leaving work so I don't feel like looking it up, but I can tell you that you should be fine!

Press and hold the . or OK button on the steering wheel control to change the temp to F*. It'll drop back to 190*

Hey thank you! That was definitely the issue. It's strange that only the coolant changes and not the oil temp or voltage gauges. This is one setting I didn't know it had! I will let Toyota know for future 86 owners
