I wouldn't totally agree with this, I've applied opti guard for almost 2 years and will continue to because I've experienced no problems with it and my customers rave about it. But I also have been testing cquartz finest side by side with OG and if my initial test results prove to be lasting, coating technology has been improved in some ways that some customers might appreciate. Don't be close minded if you're a pro, try and test new things for yourself and draw your own conclusions.

As I have posted previously I will install any coating a customer request and have been watching the vast array of new coatings being released lately. I have projects in the works testing a glass coating and working also to import a spray-on coating . As of the present Optimum is still a leader in the coating business and has a track record second to none. This is not to say OPT will remain in this position as other products are developed. I don't have a chiseled in stone brand loyalty. I do try to keep a open mind but make a decision also on proven track records. Will be watching to see your review of the cquartz.

I opted to apply Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant to my FR-S instead of Opticoat. It's still has great protection qualities, lasts for a few months, and is plenty affordable. Once I get around to it, adding a layer of non-cleaning carnauba wax on top helps even more and will give it that nice wet look. Here she is after Wolfgang has cured overnight. I used Meguiar's Paint Sealant 2.0 and looks as good as opticoat and a hell of a lot cheaper.

How long does it last?

I put it on every 6 months. Takes 30 minutes.

Opti coat is a ceramic pre polymer resin that covalently bonds into the paint forming a permanent bond that can only be abraded off through sanding or heavy polishing. Needless to say you won't need to wax your car again, which over the long run saves you money and also makes the car easier to wash.

Before applying either the coating or sealant use dawn @ 1oz per gallon to wash your car until all the beading and sheeting is gone. Then apply the product of your choice. Simple, cheap, effective.
