Limits of the prior GT86/BRZ and how to navigate them?
Hey guys. I have a question for the Gen1 guys. What were some problems with the gen1’s when picking up power? What were their limiting factors? How much power did the manual gearboxes and the autos hold before needing stronger internals? Who are the go-to guys to tune these cars? Was the rest of the car good for 350 wheel? Did it need half shafts, drive shafts etc? Or were they set up for more power from factory. This is mine, just picked it up yesterday😅.
For anyone wondering, I come from the mustang world. The gen2 and most gen3 coyote’s are good for 800 wheel on stock internals, you would just want a boost a pump for 650 wheel and a dedicated fuel pump set up with return style for things above that. The manuals are good for 600 wheel and autos are good for below 700. Those cars needed drive shafts, half shafts, pretty much with any boost application if it was gonna hit the drag strip, but most people went with DSS after 700 wheel.
