If Toyota in the 50s to 60s wasn't stopped they were actually going to name a vehicle Toyolet. Instead they went with Toyopet better than the other but not really by much.

Ford Contour (Mondeo) Because everything is... round... I guess? It even had the euro-style taillights and 2 spoke steering wheel that more than 20 years later are all the rage! Funny enough, the Metallic Denim Steel Blue color isn't far off Silver Ignition in direct sunlight. I guess I missed it so much.

Yaris when it was first introduced was a goofy name (still is)...still dont even know what if it has any meaning or if it was derived from anything.

Peugeot 206 RC which sounds like Peugeot 206 arsey in some markets.

When Toyolet was suggested, the ad guy said there would be at least one Toyolet in every single home in Japan!

Toyopet sounds kinda cutsie, like a Hamtaro or Tamagotchi.

Not sure about the worst car name but I believe this wins for worst vanity plate

GT86
Not a GT car and named after a chassis code for an obscure Corolla that sold in pitifully small numbers that nobody today would even know existed except for a tiny (compared to the general car buying public) group of anime fans and a miniscule number of 1980s Japanese race series fans.

Don't even get me started on how ridiculous the GR86 nomenclature is.

Two entries for Daihatsu:

1. Midget

2. Charade
