Anyone having issues with carbon build up on the bottom of engine block?
I have a ton caked on...
I never really noticed before. This normal?

Looks like a small oil leak. Clean it off and recheck. Front crankshaft seal or bottom of timing cover are likely sources.

As the others have stated, this is oil. There was a TSB a while back on this I think. For either the...
- O Ring for the dipstick area or...
- Timing Chain Cover / Valve Cover (I forgot which one).

If you're under warranty, they'll fix it. If its minor, just clean it and enjoy the car.

Thanks yall for the suggestions.

It looks like its all over the bottom of the engine case.

Tbh i have had more than my fair share of track days .
Engine is stock. But i have headers and stuff.

I never got a recall letter. So maybe im on my own.

Ill try out the dipstick gasket first. See if it works.

There was never a recall; but there was a TSB for customers who notice the situation and want it OEM repaired.

Good luck! Tracking down these issues can be a huge PITA on FA20.

appreciate the help!
more i think about it, i dont think the dipstick can spread carbon out that far.

Ill probably take some time to jack up the car and clean it up.
sigh........ hoping to find the area of issue and just try and externally seal that part.

and hopefully the build up is not inbetween the headers.
