Could they not have gone for a more concave face? There's no way the new gen's fitment is that compromised. That photo's fitment looks like someone just blindly chose an offset and said yea, that'll do it.

Is there some secret benefit to positive offset I don't know about?

Keeping the scrub radius stock or as intended by factory I guess?

Anyone knows the scrub radius of the stock 17x7.5 et48 wheels as mounted on the 2022? I still dunno what offset to go for. Afraid that I choose an offset that brings the scrub radius to zero (horror!).

Since the build was done in collaboration with GR Garage, there's probably some obligation to keep specs OE/legal. Even though they also added coilovers, you can see they didn't lower it much, if at all.

When you stray too far from OE wheel offset/scrub radius, it's not just a cosmetic change. It impacts steering behaviour, braking stability, and suspension motion ratio. And also increases the rate of wear on other suspension components. These effects might be a minor difference for us consumers, but obviously would be a big deal for a large corporation.

So clearly, this isn't a built to be a time attack car or stance show car. Just another marketing project to promote the new car with the MF Ghost manga/anime.

I honestly like the look, flat face flush to outside of the rim. If money were no object I'd go for Forgeline GA1R like the one on the front of this Corvette

Or I'd save $6k and get the Rota knockoff if they actually produced any in 5X100
