Valve Adjustment interval
 

From what I understand, the FA20 has a shim and bucket valve train, which doesn't automatically adjust valve lash by itself. On my Honda, the service interval for valve adjustments is 100,000 miles (160,000km).


Has anybody had to adjust their valves just from normal wear and tear? What mileage interval does it take for this to become a problem? I've only seen posts of people having to do this fairly early on, due to manufacture defect.

I would not pull this engine just to check/adjust valve clearance. If it is not broke do not fix it.

After almost 10 years in the market, a simple web search should turn up information on the frequency of occurrence. I'd say it is very low.
