That 2021 model should be the rarest of them all... :)

There was a brief period when you couldn't get an 86 after Scion shut down. I still believe it was a sudden decision that took them by surprise a bit and they had to order enough Toyota badging and parts to rebadge the FRS. Didn't impact BRZs at all.
The 2020 model year was a wind down and they planned a lower production. No surprises there.
There was no 2021 model year for either version. This again was planned and stated clearly in their press releases.

Well, I've got a notification that mine is "being built" and an estimated arrival at US Port of February 20th. Hope that is far enough along. I will feel more comfortable when I have a VIN...

Subaru is one of the only manufacturers that has not yet said they would have another shut down.
So far.
As of today.
So you should be good at this point.

Thank you for that personal guarantee that I will get my car. Of course, if I do not, you will be hearing from my attorneys. ;)

FYI - I was fairly skeptical of your claims that a chip shortage would end up slowing down car production - it appears that I was wrong.

Operative word there was "should"!

2022 marks my 30th anniversary of working in management for Tier One automotive parts manufacturers. I hear things so when I give my theories they are at least fact based. Unlike so many I am not just expressing opinion with ideas I pulled out of my ass.

This isn't the same thing. As has been detailed on here, this just means the orders they've taken are sufficient to take up the build capacity that they projected out (and presumably including Toyota's allocations).

Nope, this is something different, already posted several days ago in BRZ forum. Subaru took enough sold orders to account for their current production plans for MY 2022, so stopped taking any new ones.
