How to register a second set of wheels to TPMS?
 

I don't have the car yet, but I bought a second set of OEM wheels with sensors.
When I mount that second set, how do I register that second set?
I know that a long press of the TPMS button, sets the base pressure, and 3 quick presses selects the other set of wheels. If I'm correct, they first have to be registered to the car though?
Can I do it with my Launch X431 Pro tool?
Is the only way with a dealer visit?

I need to know this as well. My set of Enkei wheels arrive tomorrow or Friday and I plan on mounting them on the car as soon as I get them.

I'm also getting a second set (aftermarket), so I've been researching this too. My understanding is that if you get a set of aftermarket TPMS senors you can register them to the car with a TPMS tool, but that most of those tools don't work correctly with OEM sensors, so you may need to take your wheels in to the dealer.

You need to buy a set of TPMS sensors that can be cloned off the original ones.

I have 3 sets of wheels, all of them work with the car and yes if I park the car too close to multiple sets the car will think there's a malfunction but after you drive away a certain distance the light turns off.

This is no longer necessary on 2022 models, the car now supports storing two sets of wheels, and switching between them with a button.

Yes, it can register 2 sets of wheels. My question was asking, how do I register the second set?
I believe the owner's manual states that it has to be brought to the dealer for that. I was hoping that there was some technique or a tool that I can use. Or I was wondering if my Launch X431 pro tool can do it?

I will be mounting my new set of Enkei wheels tomorrow that I received from Tirerack. They came with new T6 sensors that are used for the 2022 BRZ.

Yesterday, I spoke with a service advisor at the dealership I bought the car from, and he told me that oftentimes Tirerack will go ahead and activate the new sensors and that they might work for my 2022 BRZ without doing anything.

He said that if the TPMS light does come on, I can bring it into the dealership and they will register the new sensors to my car. That's what I'm expecting to happen, but who knows.

Also, he did not know that the new 2022 BRZ can store two sets of wheels for TPMS monitoring, so he said it might take them a hour of labor to register them for me.

That seems to coincide with what the owner's manual says. I was hoping that there was a way that I can do it myself though.

Not sure if I should:

1) Mount the new wheels, drive the car without resetting anything, and see what happens.

or

2) Mount the new wheels, initialize the TPMS system and then push the TPMS button three times to change to the 2nd set of wheels, and then drive the car to see what happens.

Hopefully someone here who has installed new wheels, tires and sensors can give me some advice.

For Ford cars, normally you install the new set of wheels, turn the car on, reduce tire pressure, increase back to wanted pressure and system recognizes. No big deal.

Hope Subaru has a similar system.

TPMS light starting blinking after only 15 miles of driving after mounting my new wheels.

It's ridiculous that Subaru cannot come up with a better way to have a reset for TPMS sensors like other car companies have done.
