BRZ Heated Mirrors

1 Attachment(s)
My 2022 Premium 6MT specifically states on the window sticker that it has heated mirrors. The website seems to say that it's standard on all BRZs. Although, the owner's manual makes it seem like the cars with heated mirrors have a second symbol on the rear defrost button (like what I circled in the picture) that shows that it's for the rear window as well as the mirrors. I believe the owner's manual also uses the term "if equipped" when referring to the mirrors. My car only has the symbol on the left of that example. When I turn on the rear defrost, it seems like the car either doesn't have heated side mirrors or they are the slowest heated side mirrors I've ever seen. Can anyone shed any light on this without me having to pull apart my mirror or go back to the dealership?

I have a limited, and on the side mirrors there is a defroster symbol on it.

Presumably, if your mirrors don't have that label, it's not equipped.

Mine does not. That's really frustrating since I use this a DD, and one of my main factors on getting the lower trim was that it also had heated mirrors.

That is a bummer for premium users such as myself. Subbie dropped the ball with highlighting some differences such as those heated mirrors, and audio/speakers early on

I don't mind the 8 vs 6 speaker issue. I think some aftermarket speakers can help a whole lot more than two more factory speakers. The mirrors are way more important to me from the factory since the wiring may not be there to just swap out the part.

The Toyota website also lists the GR86 has having it standard on both trims on the "Spec Page" but it shows it only as standard on the Premium (top trim) on the "Compare" window on the "Build Page."

:iono:

Since the first press releases and images for the BRZ and GR86 were released, there has been a lot of conflicting information that was subsequently updated. HP numbers, compression, forged wheels, red brake calipers, and stereo information has been wrong and had to be later updated.

Maybe take it to the dealer and ask them about that if you still have the window sticker. But honestly, I don't know what you can do. Is there any legal or other recourse someone can take if an option listed as part of the purchase isn't there? Can it be retroactively added and paid for by Subaur?

I have Premium 6MT and it has heated mirrors, which have been put to good use over the last few weeks. -20ish with lots of snow. There is a defroster symbol on the side mirrors (no light that I'm aware of). They seem to make quick work of frost and ice, but I've never timed it.

Must be, my Canadian Base model has heated mirrors (symbol on the mirror and 2 symbols on the button inside).

Dang, Cuban cigars and heated mirrors. Canadians get all the cool stuff. I was watching either the Throttle House or StraightPipes review of the new Civic Si and they were showing the extra features the Canadian model gets compared to the US model while costing the same or less. So apparently this happens somewhat often.

I think US gas prices make up for it though

I was curious when I saw this so I looked on Subaru Parts Online to see what DIY upgrade might entail. Couldn't tell, the Limited and Premium seem to show the exact same parts for the whole mirror assembly. I'd expect the glass piece to be a different PN due to the little symbol on the mirror if nothing else.

*edit* oh no I see a difference when you look at the premium. Seems in the parts list below it lists two sets of mirrors, the more expensive set presumably with the heating element. So that's that.. then would be the question of everything between it and the switch. Maybe you'll get lucky and all cars are wired the same, haha.

Until you see the high prices/minuscule supply for graphics cards

There's other differences too. I don't have the TPMS switch in the glovebox, for one. Also, I have a mandatory block heater, but that's dealer installed. And helpful when the air temp is approaching -40.

Interestingly, my car cost 29,495 CAD list, which is 23,550 USD. Same car in the States is 27,995. Rare that it swings that way, but I'll take it.

is the block heater very worthwhile to connect in warmer near-zero weather? is there a noticeable difference in your electric bill from running it for extended periods?

my truck came with a block heater. i special-ordered the cord from a canadian toyota dealer, but haven't tried it yet, mostly because it doesn't get that extreme cold around me.
