Does the BRZ have the ability to use an OBDII programmer?
I have OBDII programmers for my GTI, and M2, and really love the way I can use it to customize the car. Is there one that functions with the BRZ?
It would be nice to be able to program out the fake sound, the amount of comfort blinks for the signal, the warning screen on the head unit (if there is one), door lock and unlock functions, etc. |
Yes. The Carista dongle and application with a subscription. I used it with my 2020 86 to turn off seatbelt chime, change door locking behavior, etc. I inquired with the company a few days ago and they told me the Gen 2 twins are supported.

Unfortunately, I was looking to get rid of the fake sound (without unplugging it), increase the comfort blinks, and get rid of the warning screen (if there is one). I didn't get the car yet, so as of now, the programmable stuff that is supported doesn't seem to typically bother me. I guess I will reassess once I get the car. |

Honestly, the fake sound does not bother me yet. Until I get an exhaust that extra sound is helping me connect to the resonance of the drivetrain. Also it's technically not fake. |

I actually tried the Carista dongle/app today and was blocked by errors. I guess gen 2 is not as supported as they promised.

The OP was about using a dongle for customizations. I responded to that. Headlight behavior is a "for instance."
|
yes, I was looking for customizations, not just standard OBD2 troubleshooting type stuff. I have a Launch x431 Pro for that, and it works well with over 100 different makes!

This is going to sound flip, but put simply, this isn't a German car. The options for "coding" are limited.
