Is the Gen II exhaust quieter than Gen I?
 

I've never owned a Gen I car, and all the folks I know that do have them put away for the winter. I'm trying to compare exhausts (liking the Borla axle-back thus far) and its making me wonder about what differences there are in the stock for stock exhaust systems on the two cars.

I am blown away by how quiet my Gen II is (not in a good way), especially low down. Its so quiet low down that I have trouble hearing the engine noise when I have the fan speed around half or above. Our stock 21 WRX is so much louder (admittedly it is a Performance Package car which I'm fairly sure has different mufflers, but even still...)

Any owners of both that can comment?

It’s a bit quieter but not terribly so. The 1st Gen cars were also very quiet especially down low.
