lol really? he's gonna play pure pricing on a markup? /sigh

the 1 at the dealer by me had those seats. the wrinkles by the accents and the FR-S stitching look HORRIBLE up close. but if they smooth the leather and get rid of the stitching they wud b great

Yeah well my dealer screwed me to. I learned my lesson. Never buy a car that's not even in the state yet. The price I settled on was not what I ended up paying and I never realized it. So I got screwed almost 3k. Now I have to pray they fix these BS charges, or at least compensate the difference with trd credits. O price I settled on was sticker which included the delivery fees of 700$ at 27,300 and I just noticed total was 30,300$ mind you my trade was worth more then the entire car so I paid 0 in taxes. The sad part is I really enjoy this car minus the HP and TQ issues seeing my z06 was 505 HP. Sorry if this is off topic a little bit.

WOW i actually emailed this guy just to call him out on that 6,000 markup to see what he would say. thats INSANE! some shady dealers out there. doesn't even include the sales tax thats insane. mine came up to 31,000 AFTER my bit of negative equity from my previous loan, my sales tax and my platinum warranty on the car!

I saw a brand new FR-S on Autotrader for $24,300...so there are some below MSRP...Anybody paying above MSRP is wasting money...Even BRZ 6 speed manual limiteds are sell at MSRP or below...its only going to get better the close we get to winter.

I agree with you completely. Unfortunate for me I had to get rid of my z06 in the worst of ways :( because if I didn't that transaction would never have taken place lol. My baby only had 22,000 miles :(

yup, i would never pay msrp for this car, i mean i understand its fresh and hot, there are people just cant wait and have to money to pay msrp + tax for the car.

for me i rather wait for a year or two to get the car when its not so high in demand and when theres more inventory.

still dont understand why subaru and scion want to hold their inventory.

i called one subaru dealer in serramonte daly city, they said they were only getting 12 for the whole year.... dono if its lying to hype it up, but he did not have any in stock and wont get any til next year.

this 2 ride is too high in demand and low in supply at the moment. bad time to buy for me

Not to say that a dealer may be misleading customers, but this one is probably lying about the price. Scion is committed to the pure pricing scheme, and I'm sure there are some higher-ups at Scion/Toyota who wouldn't take kindly at all to a dealer advertising a price below MSRP.

There is no pure pricing on Subarus, so those dealers can discount if they want to. I would expect this car to be in demand for a while, so I don't expect they'll really need to move much on their pricing to sell the few cars they get.

I had considered waiting and hoping for discounts, but decided that even at MSRP, this is a great bargain and was within my price range. I'm just glad my dealer wasn't trying to go above MSRP. I would not have paid more.

I can understand, and I admit that I also used to be the same way... But for the $24,985 total MSRP that I received my FR-S for (plus a very fair trade-in value for my MX-5), I thought it was fair... And totally a good value for the sports car that you get.

One thing I've learned is that time is money too... And I'd rather enjoy driving my car for the time that could have slipped away, and also know in my mind that I negotiated a fair deal, even if it happens to be MSRP for this specific car.

Ignore the dealer in your opening post and search or order elsewhere, if possible. :)

Kinell! What's the list price over there then?

For my Toyota GT-86 I'm paying £27,795 GBP which equates to $43,600 USD.

PoRco 08-17-2012 10:36 AM

Maybe this is after all taxes etc?
