Engine oil pan - gasket or RTV?

Some time over the next few weeks I plan to drop the engine oil drain pan. No reason, just because!
When you put it back on, how do you seal the pan? Gasket or RTV? If it's RTV, are there any aftermarket gaskets, like FelPro or someone else, to replace the yucky RTV? If it is gasket, can you give me the part #? I can't find it anywhere else.

Is anyone using this? FelPro OS 30877

Thanks for asking and answering. I wouldn't have considered it otherwise. I'll go this route when the time comes.

Never used that particular gasket but back in my engine building days I would not touch anything but Fel-Pro!
You really can't go wrong with them.
Well you could go wrong I suppose but it would be on you not the gasket.

Had great luck with FelPro on my wife's car. I believe they are a Tier 1 supplier for OEMs.

Yes they are. Not sure about now but back in the day they held over half the market.

@chipmunk

I will buy you a 6-pack of beer (via paypal, your choice of brand/flavour) if you make a review of the FelPro oil pan gasket :D

Been considering using the gasket instead of RTV for the installation of the KillerBee oil-pickup tube.

Can't find it anywhere! Called local shops... none! I'm probably gonna have to get large sheets and cut them myself! Or just use RTV again! :/

Looks like you can get it delivered from auto zone

Before you go down this road, ask yourself if you're going to be removing the pan anytime soon after. If the answer is yes, use a gasket. If the answer is no, use the adhesive sealant.

We use gaskets here often when doing oil product testing, because it's so much faster than cleaning adhesive gasket, but if they are on for any period of time, they almost always leak. Whenever we are through a series of tests and the car is going to events or to street duty, the liquid adhesive gasket goes back on, because when done right, it NEVER leaks.

What gaskets do you use? Where do you order them from?

Have used both AutoZone and Fisher Auto gaskets.

Again, for short term use ONLY. Do not recommend for long-term use at all!

Just get some of that Permatex Right Stuff Grey or Black. You don't need much.

I ordered this gasket from NAPA, because from the picture I thought it was made from rubber, like the inner two round gaskets. The material is actually some sort of fiber, and I decided to go with RTV instead because I wasn't convinced this gasket would seal well for years.
