Fumoto oil drain valve
In pictures and videos I've seen of the 2022 BRZ, the undershielding is different from the previous gen in that the engine oil drain is covered. Has anyone tried to see if both the F108 and F108S Fumoto oil drain valves fit underneath?

I put F108S on mine and no issues.

I've got the F108. Fits fine, though not a ton of clearance with the undertray.

I was considering using one, but after reading things like this:

I have also read another thread, where a guy was told by a mechanic, that the valve will sometimes warp since it is brass, and it get's stuck, so to consider it permanent. After all that info, I think I changed my mind, and I'll stick to the old fashioned way of removing bolt. |
I dunno, seems like a very low failure rate. Normally if a product is crap, threads like that turn into a negative review where everyone piles on to the garbage product. That didn't happen at all, and fumotousa stepped in even, which is even rarer for a mfg to look into things.
I think your worry is unfounded. |

The biggest advantage of the Fumoto for me is the ability to drain the oil when its hot. With the amount of oil I get on my hand when removing a drain plug I'd dread doing the old fashioned way on a hot engine. With the Fumoto I just need to be careful when turning the handle.

You can also connect a tube to the quik valve so that you can direct oil flow, which is nice.

About 6-8 track events each year, including the occasional off road excursion. Never had any issues. New owner of the car still has it and still tracks it. Never had any issues draining the appropriate amount of oil out of the engine. Even without the valve the engine won't drain 100% of the oil inside, and if I'm that paranoid I just change my oil more often. As for slower... it's just an opportunity for me to inspect the rest of the car while it's up in the air. YMMV. |
Had the Fumoto valve for about 7 years on my BRZ now. No issues or complaints.

Fumoto valves are the first mod we put on every shop car and my own personal cars. Haves used and sold MANY of them and never once had any issues.
In the link Up4speed posted, that's just messed up and shows there is no such thing as perfection. I'm going to keep using them as I think that probability of an issue is extremely low. We have over the years tested other 'oil valves' that I will not use or recommend, so there are definitely worse units out there. |
I installed mine just today. Clearance is fine. Mine is the short nipple version but I think the long version would actually clear the plate also.
