Haft Cage with Stripped interior
This year I am going to embark on converting my daily driver 2013 FRS to a dedicated track car. I am going to strip the inside. I am thinking about a haft cage that only occupies the rear section of the car. I will admit I know nothing on the topic. Mainly doing this for a racing harness. I plan to run a bucket seats in the front. Anyone have an experience with a shop that can custom fab or take a proper off the self setup and install correctly?

I have a dedicated track car -- why not go full cage if dedicated? I can understand half cage if you're still going to street it, but not on a dedicated car.

I also went with a half cage, only problem I have is finding a seat for my large frame :/ , should have mine installed sometime this month so I can post pics if that helps; honestly you are kind close by if you wanted to check it out in person. The price difference from going full cage from the half wasn't that much, I went with the half cage option because I still need to street this car for a while, so if this is really going to make this your dedicated track car I would strongly consider going with a full cage , hans, seat, harness, etc. cost and intent permitting. |

Renderos Racing is near you, I recommend them.

I and a handful of NoCal people went to tcdesign in Campbell CA.
Maybe contact Black Bird Fab Worx to see if they would do something custom. I only did 1/2 because I was still driving the car on the street some and not doing w2w. |
I have an Autopower cage going in once the weather get's better here, can post an update once it is installed.

For what its worth. If you do a half cage now but later on decide to take on a series that requires you to have a full cage, it will not be possible to "convert" to a full cage, that half cage needs to come out and a new full cage be added in its place, its way more money than doing the full cage straight up.
By the way, half cage is usually referred to as a roll bar and a full cage is referred to as a roll cage. If this is a car that still rolls on the street a roll bar makes sense. But if you are going to trailer the car to and from the track, gut the interieur all the way, including the doors and do a full cage, there is more weight that comes out of the car than what goes back in with the cage. For reference, my LS swapped and widebody car weights 2600lbs with a full cage (and quite the sturdy one at that) and a ton of aero pieces added in. |

I opted for the Autopower weld in 4pt kit. My car will still see the occasional street drive but is primarily towed to the track. |

I fabricated my own from light weight Crmo tubing and it turned out well. If you have ability and interest in doing it yourself I could try to post a few pics.
