Anyone have an issue with DGM and Bugs?

This thread will probably be one of the shortest posted; however, I was wondering if anyone has had weird issues with bugs being attracted to your car?

I have a dark grey metallic BRZ and have been noticing weird "prints" on the car when I come out after work. They come off the car quite easily and looked like a bird was possibly landing on the car with "muddy" feet and leaving tracks.

Well today I finally got to see what was making the marks... Dragonflys. Yep, there was two of them and they both just kept slamming into the car. I'm assuming they were attracted to the metallic flakes in the paint or something, but needless to say they left marks all over the car. I wiped them off when I got home (like always) so I don't have pics... I don't know how hard it would be to capture but it basically looks like small bug splats in different random directions.

Was curious if anyone else was having this odd event occuring on their car? It has happened in two uncovered parking lots in Chattanooga, TN and is literally daily (when not raining).

Thanks!

Have not noticed this on my DGM. You using some particular wash or wax that they might be attracted to?

I'm using Meguiars NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 for the base coat and I've used Eagle One Nano Wax as a re-coat; however, before I was able to get the car claybared and waxed I'm quite sure I had this issue. I guess dragonflys have good taste in automobiles? :)

Im having this problem as well. I drive a SWP BRZ its been opti-coated and I wash my car using wolfgang auto bath. I always have bugs going on the car. I also drive a red genesis coupe from time to time. Paint hasnt been taken care of in a while and no bugs.

My last car was pearl white and I never noticed it getting the marks, but the marks left are light in color so maybe if it got them I never really noticed?

Wait till you read about birds being attracted to BRZs. I remember reading something on some other BRZ forum where multiple people were having problems with birds slamming into their cars on the highway.

I've worked in the same area for 32 years and this is the first year I have seen the dragonfly poop on my car (01 Saturn SC1) and I too at first wondered what the heck it was until I saw them buzzing around the car and bouncing off the windshield. What can be next...zombie apocalypse? :confused0068:

Bugs love my whiteout/SWP so much this fly decided to sun bath on the hood! Picture taken yesterday several hours after washing my car.

Weird...I've also noticed a lot of bugs (flies) are attracted to my car(swp). I havent washed it yet, besides whatever detailing the dealer did to it. Oh, and also I think birds have a target out on my car because it's white and new!

On my Hot Lava FR-S. No other cars in the parking lot that I noticed, had a lot of love bugs on it. I also have optiguard on my paint....could it be the optiguard?

No opti coat, whiteout, always infested with bugs. Drives me crazy.

Wonder if its the metallic flakes in the paint? I've not had problems with insects but then I always park in the garage. My car is ultramarine.

The bugs are trying to rescue the crickets haha.

I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary though (except spiders getting on it on a consistent basis), but Ohio seems to have a crap ton of bugs anyways.

Cats are attracted to my car lol. Any time I'm parked where there's cats outside, I've always got muddy paw prints all over the top of the car.
