Cell phone in passenger seat issue fixed?
I remember from the last gen that putting a cell phone in the empty front passenger seat would set off the airbag alarm.
For you early adopters of the BR86, has this issue been resolved in gen 2? Thanks! |

I think this issue was resolved by '14.
I've never had the problem in 2 different '14 brz's |
Interesting. I had the issue on a 2017 Toyota 86 I rented on Turo when I was thinking of buying the first Gen.
Regardless, hopefully it was fixed! |
I didn't have the issue in my '20 or '22 with setting my lunch bag or my Kamado Joe Jr on the passenger seat.

I had the issue in my 2017. Not necessarily a cell phone, but anything large enough and electronic would set off the capacitive sensor that the seat used to try to sense a person sitting there.
My 2022 doesn't seem to do that (or at least hasn't)... |
Appears fixed. I had the problem on my 2015 WRX and also maybe on my 2017 STI. Phone was happily sitting in the passenger seat with the BRZ with no problems (also because there's nowhere else to put the phone)

never had this problem by just a phone on my 13 FRS....

I've been driving with a phone on the passenger seat for weeks and havent seen anything yet, but today: https://www.ft86club.com/forums/show...6&postcount=73
Also had a roll of gaff tape (1lbs max) resting on the seat, but don't see how that would set it off... |
