Dead Pixels on Nav Unit
1 Attachment(s)
Maybe this should be in the electronics section, but I figured this one was more active. Looks like I've got some "dead" pixels on my nav unit. For some reason they only do this when in the radio mode but not in the navigation or voice control mode. I'm taking the car in Saturday to have it looked at. I'm assuming I'm going to end up with a new unit.

Hmm, they may just need to re-flash the firmware... Have you tried to do a reset on the device yourself??
|
Those appear to be stuck, not dead, pixels. Just an FYI because for some LCD-based products, the standard for stuck pixels is lower than that of dead pixels for replacement. However, in this case, if the defect persists through reboots, etc., you clearly qualify for a new radio.

I don't have time to verify where it is on our systems, but on other cars I have owned with navi there was a pin sized reset button for a full system restart. Give that a try! Also, maybe this is the computer geek in me thinking too much, but do you have a custom start up screen by chance?

Just an update to the thread.
Too the car in Saturday and they're ordering a new nav unit and a new third brake light for me. Hopefully should fix both of my problems. So unfortunately no easy fix to the stuck pixel problem. |
^^ Glad to hear it's being taken care of.
