Ignition red looks orange?
 

Going to order second gen and can’t decide on color. I have a white 2020 and wanted something different. Was thinking ignition red but every time I see a picture it looks different. Sometimes it looks more orange than red. Just wondering if it is more of a red color in person. Also considering the grey but afraid it is too dark.

Its a bit of both and is very much light dependant. Subaru use a "Tri-coat" setup where a lighter crimson colour red paint layer is applied over a darker maroon type red.

Apparently it's supposed to be a seasonal effect. The lighter top layer reflects more under direct light and the darker layer reflects under indirect light. That's why is has an orange hue in direct sunlight but can it can look like a deep red under low light.

It won't suit everyone's taste but it's interesting.

I'm in the same boat not sure if to stick with a red GR86 or go for the white.

I have an ignition red BRZ and it is VERY VERY VERY red. Depending on the lighting it can be a touch orange or a touch pink, but it’s always very red.

Pictures don’t really do it Justice, both my phone and DSLR have trouble picking up the real color as your eyes see it.

Kind of like how the Sapphire Blue looks purple in certain light, i've taken pictures of mine and at certain angles on the boy lines it appears purple.
