2013 BRZ engine code P0016
Hey guys,
Just have a quick question. Recently my 2013 BRZ with 140K kilometers has thrown a P0016 engine code. After about two weeks of troubleshooting, my local Subaru dealership told me that my cam sprocket needed to be replaced but they also said that it could be the ECM. They have gone ahead with replacing the sprocket, sadly that didn't fix the issue and now the want to replace the ECM. Does this makes sense, could both the sprocket and ECM be causing the engine code simultaneously or did my dealership replace the sprocket unnecessary? Your input is greatly appreciated. M. |
Ahhhhhhhhh the dreaded P0016.
:scared0016: Supposedly the learning values can get way off in the ECU and there is no way to reset it which necessitates the ECU replacement. I remember somebody allegedly put a different ECU in his car then switched back and it fixed itself or something. It was a long time ago. Here is a long read on it. It has bitten an unfortunate many. https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=123459 |
Thanks for the reply.
