New member intro

Hi all,

I am excited to be taking delivery of a 2022 BRZ premium in a few days! Originally, I wanted a GR86 but I couldn’t find a dealership that I find easy to work with. While a limited would be preferred, I think the premium has its good points too.

First mod is 215/45/17 Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 on the stock wheels for the winter. I already bought Apex EC-7R 17x9” ET42 wheels. From another thread, it looks like the rear might poke a little more than my preference so I’ll have to see how that works out. Planning to run 245/40/17 Michelin PS4S after the winter.

The 2022 will share garage space with a bunch of other cars. Sharing the information with the community in case it helps you understand my perspective and use of the BRZ. The current set of cars are 2016 911R, 2016 675LT, 2021 Civic Type R, 2021 812 Superfast, and 2021 765LT coupe.

I can’t wait to drive the BRZ and will share more soon. I’m fortunate to get to enjoy these cars (well, certainly paid and continue to pay the “price”). I mainly want to share my passion, experience, and be helpful. Feel free to ask me questions and I’ll do my best to answer.

welcome!

considering your other vehicles, especially the civic type r, why the brz? i'm curious what the type r lacks in your opinion to 'justify' (term used loosely) ;) , a different vehicle.

Great question. The Civic Type R is an incredible car. The 5-door setup provides great utility. The handling and driving experience is as good as the positive reviews indicate. I got bored/distracted and decided to mod it. Currently, it’s getting Motec sorted. After that, built engine, turbo, and supporting mods. Due to the downtime, I wanted something to play with in the rain and winter primarily. Plus, as amazing as the Civic Type R is, it doesn’t provide the RWD dynamics.

Smaller and looks better are also strengths of the BRZ.

ah, modded car syndrome. i'm told it's terminal.

if it's any consolation, my brz is the least modded cars i've ever had. part of me likes the simplicity of it just working every time i use it, and part of me is happy with what it is.
still tweaking and adjusting, but not wide sweeping changes like i used to want to do. it could always be more of course, but there's nothing about it that needs more...

Yeah, I’ve been down the mod slippery slopes quite a few time. It’s tough to beat amazing factory engineering and it’s always about trade offs.

If I end up modding the BRZ, I might need a mostly stock one as well to enjoy. :D

I feel like with that stable of cars it's a testament to how good the brz really is.

I test drove a FR-S in the early days and have wanted one since. I haven’t driven the new BRZ yet but I am expecting it to be pure and awesome.

I am very glad that cars like the current generation BRZ are still being built. While performance matters, there’s lots to enjoy without going silly fast too.

Looking forward to getting these on the car after the winter as well. Rear fitment might be too aggressive though.

This arrived before the BRZ. Hoping to get the BRZ in the next few days.

Please don’t mind the off-road stance. I left the lift on after it came off the trailer (yes, it lifts the front and rear).

Are you planning to keep both the 675 and 765? And I'm with you on how great these cars are. My BRZ is a replacement for my 991.2 GTS which I couldn't bear to actually use, so that felt sort of pointless to own.

Too early to tell at the moment. If there are no constraints, I would definitely keep both. In reality, there are always constraints. I plan on keeping them at least until I get to drive them more in the summer.

The 765LT is likely the last of its kind so I’d like to keep it “forever”. The 675LT is likely one of the greatest of all time as well (I think they are under appreciated). In reality, there might be a very high overlap though. However, there are always nuances to appreciate and that helps keep things fresh.

But, not as exiting as BRZ delivery tonight! More photos later. Just a short drive home and I’m already in love!

The white looks gorgeous in low light. Considering your stable of cars im curious what mods you end up choosing and hearing your feedback about them. A common agreement among us enthusiasts is that these cars are to quiet from factory, so im assuming an exhaust is in order?
