new wheels and tires
 

I am putting a 6.2 ls into my fr-s and I am going to need a little more traction. I also want to keep the car relatively stock looking since I am making it a sleeper. At most I want to roll the fenders but no wide body and I would like to avoid camber and try to have a flush look. I have seen that I could run a 17x9.5 but I would like to go a little wider if possible. Is it possible to get wider rims with a larger offset to tuck the wheels in or will it start to cause the wheels to rub against suspension components.

You might run into issues fitting something that wide in the front if you're on stock front struts. 17x9+40 is about where the wheel/tire will start contacting the spring perch, anything over that will contact. Aftermarket coilovers will fix this issue though. Rears are less of an issue.

This is about as wide as I've seen on a stock body in terms of wheel/tire combos. 18x9.5 +40, 265/35

i am going to be running a staggered setup so i wont have to worry about the front tires as they will be skinnier and i appreciate the help.

how far along is the swap? id be inclined to just run some of the standard 17x9 options and get a tire compound geared for what youre trying to do

right now i am just trying to get a list of parts i need for my car. I know what i need for the swap and should have the complete build done sometime in January. February at the latest. I am just looking to see what my options are for tires. I want to have something that allows me get a good amount of grip to have a decent time at the drag strip. the car is not being built just for the strip but I would like a little traction so I can have a good night out there every now and then.

I think F/R weight distribution is going to be a bigger issue than tire size. Shouldn't have any problem fitting 265s, maybe 275s in back I don't think, but with 46% static weight on the drive wheels... Also tire selection is going to be more important than size.

the ls is shoved pretty far back so the weight ratio f/r is going to be pretty equal in theory the kit i am using says to have an almost identical weight ratio to the stock car but ill have to wait till the swap to know for sure.

Yup...
The LS is a *longer* engine than the FA20, so even shoved further aft its c.g. is going to be about the same location, and it's heavier... Factory distribution is 55F/45R, I've seen 56F/44R for LS swapped. Hopefully yours is better! You should be OK at the strip with dedicated drag radials and sticky launch surface. Might suffer a bit on normal street tires though. Anyway, point being I think that tire choice is going to be more important at the drag strip than outright width.
