I haven't gotten word that they have my mirror in yet, but they may be holding it until my windshield gets done next week.

ETA - Going to see if they let me keep the defective mirror so I can do some investigation.

SpectreRT 12-10-2021 07:01 PM

I have the auto-dimming mirror, but havent tried anything with homelink. I should do that... bleh.

If you can, look at the connector going to the mirror and see if there are more than 3 wires. Mine has the dead HomeLink issue and there are only 3 wires in the connector. You can see this post at 5:50 of the video to see how to check the mirror side connector.

I'm not sure that there should be any more wires. With the lights on, the dots on the homelink buttons are illuminated like they should be. It just doesn't recognize the button presses.

I am not getting any lights on the HomeLink buttons or on in the mirror with or without the headlights on. I guess I will ask the dealer about it.

I showed my dealer this today. They're going to escalate with subaru corporate. They asked I do the same, as nothing will happen fast without a bunch of attention on the topic.

dragoontwo 01-12-2022 06:43 PM

My local Subaru dealer is getting on my nerves. They ordered the wrong mirror again. This is after it came in on the 4th and the parts dept didn't tell anybody. This will be the 4th mirror order and third homelink mirror(if they order the right one).

They told me we could test plug the mirror before sending it to the shop to save time if it didn't work. Nope. Gotta wait half an hour to find out they don't even have the right mirror. Then have to wait 5 minutes to even leave the parking lot because the car is blocked in the service drive through.

Kado 01-12-2022 06:51 PM

There is no real testing needed. Just look at the harness that plugs into the mirror. If there are 4 wires and one is a blue wire, its good. If there isn't its part of a small batch that went out with the wrong harnesses.

If they've ordered 4 mirrors and gotten a bad one every time, you should probably play the lottery. There is no way it was wrong that many times. There is a tech bulletin that states to look at the production date, all mirrors with a production date of 6/30 or earlier need to be replaced. Anything after 6/30/21 is OK

dragoontwo 01-12-2022 07:01 PM

I asked you about this on Dec 31 and got nothing. They have ordered 2 wrong mirrors. The first was a normal mirror, but they didn't say what was wrong with this one.

Why don't you post a picture of both ends of your jumper harness and we can put this to bed.

otaco 01-12-2022 10:02 PM

I just picked up my limited manual this past weekend and my homelink works fine.

Works great with my chamberlain at my place.

It seems @Kado can't bother to be a help either time I asked him, so here's a picture of my old harness and new harness together.

After 4 trips to the dealer and 2 non homelink mirrors ordered by them I finally have a working mirror.

Original harness on right, new working on left.

Kado 01-17-2022 04:37 PM

"If there are 4 wires and one is a blue wire, its good."

3 wires bad.. 4 wires good. Not super complicated. I have been nowhere near my car to take a picture. Congrats on getting your mirror all squared up.

Thanks for the update! Can the dealer order just a new wire harness, or do they have to order the whole mirror?

Not sure on that. There may be a number for just the harness, but you would have to check with the dealer I bet. I can't find it in the parts diagram.

While not proper, you could also just jump the red and blue wires on the mirror. I tried this and it worked.

Is there any way to confirm that's what's happening further up the wire bundle? I assume so as the wire harness from the car is only 3 wires. I think it's just constant power, switched power, and ground. So red is probably either constant or switched.

You are correct. The 4th blue wire is teed off under the sheathing.

Awesome, thanks! Time to patch mine up :)

I'll go ahead and probe the cars end of the wires tomorrow to document exactly what they are.

Yoshoobaroo 01-17-2022 09:51 PM

So could We just fix it with this harness?
3pin/10pm in housing version?

That might be the best approach. I just took mine apart and it's not easy to patch because of the small size of the harness, and the fact you'd have to have the right wire pin to attach to a 4th wire and connect in.

I got a part number off of it but I couldn't find anything online: 625-1943-000

Thanks! With the proper pin out at both sides we can just order the correct adapter from a 3rd party vendor then!

Here's the wiring harness from the mirror I ordered in anticipation of my GR arriving. Hard to make out in this picture but the blue wire is present on the black plug end. The harness was made on 12/15/21.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d69cb869fc.jpg

What’s the full part number?

901-1387-000 for the harness.

H501SCC000 for the mirror.

AECHL5 is the model stamped on the mirror housing if anyone wants to compare.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4a5b06f0b3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1d21ea838f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4a4002087f.jpg

Homelink not working

Like @emce said no dice on that harness part number.

I’d much rather swap this out myself, don’t really want the dealer to have to deal with my dash cam and then have to worry about them scratching my clear UV/IR tint on the windshield.

dragoontwo 01-18-2022 01:30 PM

The red and blue wire are tied together in the jumper lead. The red wire is switched 12V, the brown wire is ground and I'm not sure what the yellow wire is. I can't get 12V on it at all, and I get no meaningful measurement with my meter set to mV either.

If you shine a flashlight at the glass just right, it looks like there might be a screen in the center.

Except that the mirror itself has more than 4 wires available, so anybody wanting to bench test it has to guess instead of knowing which wires to go to. He was not helpful at all.

I ended up buying a harness from Bob's Mirrors. Got it plugged in this evening and homelink finally works!

Which one? The one I linked earlier has 2 options for the 10 pin connector

The regular 10 pin is what you want. I ended up sending him a few pictures to confirm everything as well. I'm going to go ahead and let him know that it was for the 2022 BRZ so hopefully others will be able to just reference the car on check-out.
