I think it's also an issue because my BRZ doesn't do that...at all, regardless of whats turned on or off. If every BRZ did it, no worries.

Seems that a reflash from Subaru is in order, glad to know that Visconti just thinks it's idle tables.

My Integra did that when the cap n rotor were done.

Have you tried to give it gas as soon as the idle dip occurs? Does it recover or stall?

It'll recover, but the idle dip will continue to happen.

WHEN the idle dip happens is something I can't control. It comes and goes, and it doesn't always happen. I'm working on trying to replicate it at will, so that the dealer won't think I'm just full of crap if I go and can't replicate it on the spot.

Do you have your evac set to front defrost, if so it cycles the compressor to clear the windows. A/c engagement is very noticeable I find.

It happens regardless of if the AC is on or off.

Wait, have you read through the thread on the screwy idle and then stalling in the other subforum? The technicians were instructed to swap out the cam gears, VVT control valves, and ECU. That sounds like there's some overlap that's not supposed to be there or something, and otherwise the car should idle okay? :iono: Plenty of cars idle around 700rpm right?

My BRZ has been doing that since its first mile. Pretty annoying at best.

It's a slight vacuume leak seen it before on other cars from wha I can see on my I phone it creeps up in rpm just before it drops. Had a Honda did the same thing but it would rev till like 3 k before ilde back. Was a inlet gasket. Figured out where mine was comming from with airostart sprayed in engine bay will lift rpm if it's sprayed near leak. Could also be I idle air valve out side normal operating reaction speeds. Up to the dealer chances are it will have thrown a code anyway. I used to work with a auto electrician. Looks like the rpm creeps up till it hits the fuel cut then cuts then settles back in. Oh anyone has misfire at idle mine is misfiring every now n then. Oh anyone else had a belt squeal as well?

That hardly seems like much of a dip. going form 700 to 500. I'd be worried if it hit something around 200 - 300.

Mine does occasionally drop to 200 odd, nearly stall, car shakes, then it picks up again and is fine for another few hundred kms..

in 1800kms its happened 4 times so far.

Toyota said they cant replicate it, and there's nothing in the ECU to suggest there is a problem :S

That actually seems like an issue. When cars feel like they're shuddering and about to stall that's when it becomes an issue.
