JDL 4-2-1 headers with OEM FP+CB?

Anyone have the JDL 4-2-1 exhaust with the oem front pipe and catback? I'm looking to install a supercharger in the future and only have an aftermarket catback for now, which being a Corsa, will have to be reverted to OEM so that I remain on good terms with the neighbours and the local constabulary. So anyone have the JDL+OEM combo and has sound clips or a description? Figure I install the headers first, pick up a few horsies and then retune when I get an SC at some point in the future.

I have a JDL with OEM OP/FP and CSG Touring 86 Competition catback; zero issues with the sound and you should have no problems with an OEM catback.

A) All headers are quiet when used with the factory frontpipe and catback combo.

B) You may notice a little extra valvetrain and 'gas flow' noise from in-cabin with some headers, due to stainless tubes being 'thinner walled' than the factory item.

That's a much more subtle thing heard from in-cabin though, and not something that contributes much to overall volume (or that would be 'picked up by the neighbours' so to speak). This does tend to settle down a bit too, once the new pipes 'carbon up' a little from inside after a couple of decent drives.

C) Refer to A :D

I have JDL 4-2-1 OP and Dual resonators FP, Stock Mid pipe with and fujitsubo authorize s axle back. Zero drone or rasp and really gives the car an OEM+ sound. Louder when you want to be quiet when no and its catless.

I have a JDL 4-2-1 with OEM FP and MP, and some AM axleback lighter than OEM but still quite restrictive

I am really happy with the sound. It is nothing too loud if you want to (low revs) but still a very nice improvement over OEM because it sounds deeper letīs say

This! I thought it could be some kind of leak or something. Is it a sort of metallic sound coming from the "gearbox" position that happens only under throttle load and mid revs? Apparently it does not sound from outside...but from inside is annoying

Thinner walled header pipes can be a bit more resonant/drummy, so you'll hear more gas flow, and mechanical noise emanating from the heads may carry a bit more. It does seem to settle with a bit of carbon buildup though.

What you're describing could also be rattling from the factory heat shielding on the cat/front pipe. If it bothers you, you can clamp them with large hose clamps mated together to encircle the cat and shielding, and tighten it down.

Ok thanks a lot for the tip. I am not sure if it comes from header or FP, because standing still there is no rattling. Maybe I will try the tip

thanks for the video, I have to say that's fairly raspy, at least at the top end. Seems I should be looking for an alternative catback. I just know my Corsa is gonna be way way too loud

I can give you some free revs when parked. See if it sounds any different. Not sure I hear the "rasp" Maybe a bit ricer sounding I guess. IDK:bonk:

Bear in mind that's all over 5k RPM - you're going to hear it no matter what : )

At those revs, that sounds really nice and smooth IMO. Not too tinny or raspy.

V cool, but not a great indicator of how it would sound around the hood or at cruise :D

Where was the mic placed for the recording - was it in-cabin, or...?

External on rear bumper near license plate.
