There is a shop in MN that has done multiple of these swaps. Also complete FA24 in first gen cars.

Two shops that I know with running / driving cars, both shops are owned by friends

RS Motors in MN has done a couple.
ASM in WI - I know he has one in his daily.

I saw the cam reluctor wheels they posted. Kinda what I have been thinking all along with just swapping the complete engine. The crank reluctor from the first gen engine I imagine should bolt on. What I am curious about is my understanding is that the 2nd gen has the same crank and cam signal type as the 17’+ first gens. So is the new cam wheels only needed for the 13’-16’ cars or not.

Edit: RS Motors did confirm the new cam reluctor wheels are only needed for 13-16’ cars.

Now if someone could kindly provide us with head CNC program to get to the right compression ratio/cyclinder volume using those FA20 heads :)

Or just use the entire FA24 :iono: I can’t imagine machining and rebuilding the heads and assembling them to the short block is that much cheaper. Also curious if they are using the FA20 timing cover and upper oil pan or the FA24’s.

Edit: RS is pretty responsive. I didn’t ask them for any more info since they did the work but it does appear with the FA24 short block they are using everything else from the FA20. I’d probably be best to ask them which route would be best to go with. I’d imagine for a DIY’er the complete engine would be easiest. The kit to do the complete engine is 700 bucks and they have 1st batch parts coming out.

Probably factor in 2-300 bucks for incidentals on top of that too but basically that’s what it sounds like.

From the pictures on their FB for the FA24 shortblock swap it appears that the timing cover, upper oil pan & oil pan are used from the FA20 engine. They show a couple of pics of the FA24 block, no idea what, if anything is done with the heads to account for the 8.0mm bore difference (94.0mm to 86.0mm)...or if that is really an issue at all....

Looks like it will be at a simialr price point as the HKS FA20 2.1L Stroker kit

Still very, very interested....

I do believe that they have FA24 complete swaps completed so that cars can complete in ClubTR for Gridlife, in addition to FA24 short block with FA20 heads/etc.

Interesting, does that mean the car won't inherit the Gen2 oil pressure issues as they seem to be caused by the oil pan difference?
