why are there separate BRZ and 86 general sub-forums?

The two are so closely related, i don’t see why there should be two. I propose they be merged.

Maybe the 1st gen and 2nd gen general get merged too. There’s a lot of new owners of 2nd gens that would benefit from the experience 1g members have.

EDIT: While we’re at it, the classifieds doesn’t need so many sub-forums.

2nd

Hey! Don't put us elite BRZ trustees with the basic plebian car drivers that have an 86!

The moment you set up your own car forum I'll join.

Am I even allowed to post on here given I don't own either model?

you're allowed in off topic. but that's it. these motors are so different, you couldn't possibly begin to understand how superior they are to everything else in existence

You do realize the main forum with the vast majority of relevant information is already shared. The sub forum for each vehicle model is to discuss the things that are specific to that model.

Classified is broken up by part “type/category” very similar to how most vendor websites break it up for easier searching and viewing. If you’re specifically in the market for rotors you really want to sort through a bunch of header, intake, flash tablet, and headlight posts to try to find a rotor classified?

They also have a local sub forum for buying/delivery local by region.

Not sure you have familiarized yourself with this forum enough to make these suggestions. This is one of the easier and better forums to navigate for whatever information you are seeking.

Which forum is the "main" forum?

EDIT:

When i owned a 3000GT the forum i frequented didn't split the Stealth into it's own category.

When I owned a Plymouth Laser RS there wasn't a Mitsubishi sub-forum and an Eagle Talon sub-forum. They did have a separate sub-forum for the different engines, but for the most part even through all 3 generations of the DSM triplets there was a single "general" forum. This is because there's a lot of cross-compatibility, and splitting things up leads to 2g owners asking questions that 1g owners can answer, but won't ever see. Even more so if there's a BRZ section and an 86 section.

To me it looks like someone was trying to think of all the different topics they could come up with to categorize, without thinking if it was even necessary.

Wow way to come off as totally pretentious.

He is probably referring to the "technical topics" section of the forum. Info wise, 99.9% of what you want to know is there.

soundman98 10-19-2021 10:27 PM

i just click the 'new posts' button.

hell, i tried to take part in a canadian-only group buy a while back.

to some, the order and categorization matters. i couldn't care less. it's also how so many threads everywhere end up trailing off into off topic conversations.

I'm looking for tomorrow's weather forecast so I'm guessing that's the 0.1% you're referring to.
